It must have been about 1982. I was up in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin to visit my daughter who was at some sort of a summer camp. I was just killing some time and went into the town. It was still a very sleepy little old fashoned summer resort town then. No condos yet. I spotted a lot of cars sitting in the very large front lawn of the old Elkhart Lake Inn (I am not sure of the name). It was late afternoon on a Saturday or Sunday. Many of the cars had been there but were gone or leaving. I saw this GTO. It was just sitting there unattended. I walked over and looked it over liesurelyly. It was red of course. I remember wondering about the little plastic scoops near the rear of the hood. I had never noticed them in pictures. I wondered if they were correct or added. There were other cars there too. The only other two that I remember were a 427 Cobra which I wondered if it was a replica and an old Ferrari monoposto. I remember looking in the cockpit of the Monoposto and noting that it had the gas pedal in the center. I remarked to the owner that it was a kindof old fashoned place for the gas and he said that it was not. I did not at the time realize that even Indy cars had the gas in the center in 1982 and probably still do. I thought it was pretty cool. Of course back then they were worth, what, maybe a hundred thou? I think it was the weekend of the Chicago Historic races. I just totally stumbled into it. It was wonderful. Tom Walgamuth

I once got to see 3765 being loaded onto the upper tier of a two tier trailer, the cars car taker allowed me to get in underneath it and get a close look at the mechanicals- it was very cool
