I am trying to find a picture of a Mondial or 308/328 with crema leather and red carpets. I've tried searching for the past hour with no success. I am thinking of replacing the slightly worn brown carpet in my Mondial with some red carpet, and would like to find some pictures to halp me make my mind up. I have always thought this was a great color combo on these cars. I have seen Bandit's 328 in person with this combo, and his interior looks fabulous.

    Thanks guys!

Thanks. The photo makes the leather appear darker and yellower than it really is...

I've always like that combination much better too. Its great contrast, the red carpet and the tan seats...

Where and who is the supplier of this carpet?

The red carpet was a factory option. My car was originally shipped to Foreign Cars Italia, NC. My understanding is that quite a few cars came through this way from that dealer.

BEAUTIFUL interior, Len! My car has the slightly lighter crema leather, but the more I see of these cars with the red carpets the more certain I am that I want to switch mine to red once my car is delivered (hopefully in a week or two).

Quick question: Where did you get the floormats? I would like a nice set of matching red floormats to go with the new carpet, and I particularly like the style of mats that have the large prancing horse and "Ferrari" across the bottom. Also, did you have to punch holes in the passenger side floormat to mount the fire extingushier? I want to get a decent halon extingushier in my car pretty soon after I get it, and was wondering how you mounted yours?

Attached are a few pics of the interior of my car as it is now.

Nathan, The mats came with the car; not sure where you might find them now. Try www.italiancarparts.com

The fire extinguisher bracket (got it on eBay a couple of years ago) mounts to the seat rail hardware, holes were not punched in the carpet...

Check out Ian's pic, because that is exactly what you're interior would look like... The lighter Crema leather really sets off the red!

Thanks for the additional pics, Iain. After seeing yours and Len's interiors, I am without a doubt switching to red carpet. It just makes the whole intertior "pop" so much more. That deep red just looks so RIGHT with the light tan leather.

Iain - I particularly like the contrasting creama leather welting sewn on the edges of your mats. That gives them a very distinctive finishing touch. Did these mats come from the factory or are they some you found in the aftermarket?

Len - Thanks for the info on the extinguisher mount. I REALLY like the idea of mounting it to the seat tracks and not having to drill any new holes in the floor.

And finally: What about sources of carpet for these cars? I looked on the GAHH website, and they do not list a carpet kit for the mondial coupe, although they do list ones made of Wilton wool for the cab. Does anyone know if you can use the cab kit for the coupe? I guess the front sections would be the same, but the back seat area a little different. They also sell bulk carpet. Does anyone know if the Mondial carpet kits have any molded pieces in them, or are they made up from sections of flat carpet. I have re-done interiors myuself in a few British cars by using the old carpets as a template to cut new pieces from bulk carpet, and it was pretty straightforward. I would then have the welting and any other sewing necessary done at an upholstery shop. Anyone ever done something like this with their Mondial?

The Photos do "bling it up" a bit more than reality but it definitly looks the part :)

The mats came with the car from the specialist I bought it from (in 1999). They were new when I got them. Colour is a pretty close match to the carpets. The company is now no longer trading so I'm afraid I havn't a scooby's as to who made them or where they came from.

Seem to be of reasonable quality though & have held up fairly well. Might be better if they had a rubber heel mat on the driver's side but no complaints otherwise. Best thing about them is they are fairly tight fit so they never move (and so never interfere with the throttle pedal !)

    Nathan,

I too have a Mondial t with crema leather, and have been thinking of doing exactly the same color for the carpet. I have a few samples arriving shortly, and have been in contact with another owner who has recently recarpeted his car by cutting each piece by hand and having the edging done. I will post details about the amount of carpet needed etc once I get them.

If you come across any information also that is useful, please post it here!

I agree, crema/red may be my favorite (after tan/black of course!)

Seems to have been more popular in Europe than in the States.

The rear seat squabs have a bracket and a bolt that secures the front part of the squab to the car (the vertical part at the front of the seat leading down to the floor). I used this bolt to secure my extinguisher as well as the seat squab. The extingusher was therefore readily to hand (right behind the driver's seat) and did not particulary obstruct the leg room in the back any more that it was already (also that seat was the least used).

I haven't seen the car, its at Dave Helms. Thought it was more creme, but I can't remember what Dave Helms said the interior was. It does look more tan in the pictures.

Sorry if its the wrong color, will have to check with dave.

See post #11 above - that's crema. It's really a stunning combo, rare to find in the States, in my experience anyway.
