Jon, the car looks great with the paint finally done, although everytime I check into this thread I'm blown away by the time and effort you're putting into this car, it's going to look great once it's finally done.

BTW - love the "replacement" Miura, that SV looks awesome!

    Jerry,

Your not the only one close to the Dino who would love to see it in person. What an amazing thread and undertaking.

We own an avocado farm in Fallbrook and love the town, incredible views and its small town charm. Hot Summer Nights is a cool car show and festival on Main street in summer. Quite a few f-cars showed up to my surprise last year. The miracle Dino will be a great addition next year if we are so lucky?

    Welcome to Fallbrook

    Paul

Back to work after a few days of wakeboarding. I am waiting for some fan blades which is holding me back from the fans, radiator, spare tire tub, then the wiring. So am still just attaching what I can. The pattern is done for the new aluminum fire wall so that's my project tomorrow. I picked up the new floor pan so that goes to the powder coater then I can install that. Today I riveted back on the vents that go on the top hoop. I put the brackets that hold the radiator fans and a few latches back on. Nothing to screw up today!

    Jon,
New aluminum floor pan looks nice. How thick and what alloy? How are you handling attachment of access panels. Will the panel be pop rivetited back on? Thanks and nice to see you back at work.

It will be pop riveted back on as soon as I get it powder coated. It's aluminum, I'm not sure of the guage as I just matched the old one. The access panel is recessed and I'll use (clips) not sure what you call them and then just screw in the access panel. I'll get the guage tomorrow. My son borrowed my good camera as he got a press pass for next's week LeMans series race at Miller motor park in Tooele, Utah. So the pictures are lacking. Hope I can get it back. He's sure taken over a lot of my stuff. You gotta love em.

I finished cutting all the replacement aluminum panels and tomorrow they go to the powder coater. I worked on new cables for all the latch pulls, powder coated a few parts (the front latch pull and the hinged parts for the gas flap). I put in the gas filler neck and just a few odds and ends. I'm hampered with the camera I'm using which is a point and shoot. My son is begging to buy my good one cheap which is borrowed right now. I ordered a canon 5d so should be back to normal in a few days. Still waiting for my fan blades from GT parts.

I still can't believe that you have your own powder coater, I'm very jealous.

The trick is getting your wife to let you use the oven to bake the parts! ;)

Or putting an old kitchen oven in your garage.

    JON,

Belly pan assembly looks great. Now I'm motivated to do mine as a winter project. Your most forward piece (under the battery area) is also aluminum. Mine is fiberglass. Anybody else's fiberglass? I think mine is original from the factory.

The one under the battery was fiberglass om my car. It was the only fiberglass piece, but I replaced with aluminum.

    Jon,

Roughly what thickness and alloy/temper if you know? For example: "0.063 thick, 6061/T6" or "1mm thick, half hard." Thanks,

I wonder if it was fibreglass due to battery acid issues? Would make sense.

Too technical, I have no idea of alloy or temper. I went to the Metal Mart and bought a sheet of aluminum approx 1/16 inch thick.

    Thanks Jon,

Exactly what I wanted: 1/16" half hard is what you got. Just as I thought reasonable a while back when I saw the first pictures. Looks great with the powder coating. Keep on rolling.

I put in the spare tire tub today. Got to use my favorite tool again, the rivet gun. I'm think I'm about ready to put the wiring in. I removed the plastic wrap and pushed it outside to see how it looks in the San Diego sunshine. It looks goooood! A question for Corbani or Selevan or anyone else. My car had two firewall heat shields, the one closest to the passenger compartment being aluminum and covering from the bottom to the top. There was no insulation between that one and the fiberglass tub. The second one started at the bottom and comes about half way up the other. That one originally had some yellow spun fiber as insulation. Why do I need the second one as now I have 1" of thermal insulation sandwiched between the first aluminum heat shield and the fiberglass tub. All the second piece covered was some wiring that runs along the bottom of the frame. Do I need 2??
