I was driving up Federal Highway in afternoon traffic in the Miura today and a new 'Nero" Gellardo was in the next lane over. After about 5 miles of back and forth, he opens his door - I guess the tint was fresh (or the window was broken) - he leans out and says "that is a Lamborghini, I never would have known." I just can't imagine a Ferrari owner not recognizing a GTO. Could it be that those guys just have no sense of history. Scottie
BT: I would say that he is "our age" as opposed to an old codger. But it was a MIURA - like the holy grail of Lambos. You'd think any Lambo owner would know that much history. Maybe he hadn't gotten his secret decoder ring in the mail yet. Scottie
True. But I would still cut a fellow Ferrari owner some slack if they did not know a GTO was a Ferrari. I think Boca is stressing you out. Besides, aren't you supposed to be oblivious to all other cars when you are driving a Lamborghini? BT
I am not surprised. In a recent NY Times article about supercars in south Florida, the manager of Lamborghini Miami (#1 in Lambo sales nationally) admitted that they do not sell cars to the analytical type. They sell Lambos to actors, musicians, atheletes, people that want to be seen, etc. Example, have you seen Shaq's new "stretch" Gallardo?? He went on to say that Ferrari owners are more interested in the heritage of the car and pride of ownership. Another quote in the article was that Ferrari owners have already arrived, Lambo owners are still trying to get there.
What he should have realized is that your car is worth 2.5 to 3 times as much as his, and is a piece of history. He should donate his Nera to me....
TheCarcierge- I don't own anything of an exotic car...and I've seen that Miura in the back lot of <forget the name of the place> on Dixie Highway and Hillsboro (near there maybe) many times. Would that be your place of business? The youth today (well I'm 22) have no respect for the classics... Tell ya what, when I'm back in Boca for school (FAU), i would love to take a picture of the Miura with both doors opened (they where designed to resemble th horns of a bull). Then through some Photo Shop Wizardry place the car on a beach with a sunset in the back ground. For your time (probably only an hour) I will supply you an 11x17 print of the finished product as well as digital copies of all images taken. I could then resize a few that you like for use as a desktop background.
I always thought the Miura was some asian fish that when you cut it wrong you die. Never knew it was actually a pasta dish.
gallardo guys are too busy shaving their body hair and taking steroids to realize a piece of lambo history. i still like the gallardo, it's just not my cup of tea (unless i start working out, with the use of performance enhancing drugs, tweeze my eyebrows, and shave my body). :0
I know who that was. He's not a lambo guy, nor owns the car, so I wouldn't be surprised at the statement. He's really in to Porsche, and his father's dealership took it in on trade.
