Try www.importeccatalog.com (search on the 10-digit Bosch PN). Not sure that they have as much of the "air" stuff, which tends to be more specialized than the "fuel" stuff, but worth a shot. Please post the 10-digit Bosch PN and the F PN in this thread for others in the future.
All of the auxillary CIS stuff LOOKS exactly like the parts on the VW Sciroccos that I owned including the vacuum limiter and warm up air bypass, etc. They might not be exactly the same inside or be calibrated the same, etc, but for something as minor as the vacuum limiter I'd think anything should be OK. I'd try a junkyard if you want to go really cheap, the junkyards are full of old Rabbits, Volvos and Mercedes that had CIS. Grab all of those fragile Bosch connectors for the CIS system while you are there! That said I just ordered the correct Bosh part number brand new for my fuel accumulator from germanparts.com because I just wasn't too confident how interchangable they are. I THINK they are probably all the same except for fittings or mounting tabs, etc., but I wasn't SURE, so I got the right one coming.
Steve, The number stamped on the part is 0 280 160 138 and this is the vacuum limiting valve on a 1983 Mondial QV. This part number does not match the part number listed for this valve in the Ferrari parts thread sticky at the top of the forum (they list 0 280 160 111). The Ferrari part number is 117646. If you go to Dennis McCann's site he has it listed incorrectly as a fuel valve at $125. There is no way that this part is worth more than about $25! importeccatalog said they don't have it. Darrols, I found that bosch parts site but it seems to be useless. The only parts they list for my car is a fuel pump. If I search on the part number it comes up empty. Surely there is a decent Porsche or BMW place that stocks this stuff?? Birdman

Thanks for that tip....but they were the first place I tried. They have some of the CIS stuff such as the cold start valve, but not this one. This is so frustrating!
oddly that part is getting very hard to find. it's needed though to keep a lean condition from happening under deceleration. my bosch book does not list a "138" but the "111" it's even shared with the 911s from 1975, pelican might have it.
When I was in Charleston, we had a local Bosch parts supplier - ISC 843-871-0906. You could give them a try....they had parts cross-referenced for VW, Volvo, BMW, and others.
They were the most promising lead so far...but they don't list it on the site. I sent them an e-mail. Thanks. Any other ideas? You would think it would be easy to buy a part from Bosch...but no. Birdman
Pelican has a Porsche part that looks similar for $193! Rock Auto lists a Bosch vacuum limiter valve of a different part number (0 280 160 118) for $90. Sounds to me like if Dennis McCann's price is current (sometimes his prices on the website are not current) he has a decent price and I should just order it from him. But for $125, I need to be sure this part is busted! Birdman

Is this part specific to the 83 US Mondial? Does anyone in our area have one on their car they can lend you to try it out? i.e.- does Pizzaman's car have one? Just another reason to go Euro!! But, it sounds like the $125 from Dennis is the way to go if you need it. jwise
not specific to the US, it's function is to prevent the mixture from going lean when you let off the throttle at speed, i.e. backfire on the CIS plate which would be destructive.
I talked to Verell the other night and I think we will try to get our cars together at some point and I'll try his and compare before I buy one. Birdman
Hmmmm- that's why I asked about it being a US thing. My car (euro QV) does not have one. Verell's euro QV does have one? Weird. I learn something new every day about these cars.
Are you sure it doesn't have one? This is NOT an emissions device, it's a CIS operating part. Post a pic of your engine!
the QV's do not have this device. the CIS is updated and has a secondary relief area in the funnel that the k-basic does not have, as a matter of fact the k-basic funnel is designed and matched to the engine it is used on, the later k-lambda is not. this means you can not change out funnel units from other cars, however on the k-lambda you can because it was standardized by then.
Some QVs have it because mine is a QV! You mean the later QVs don't have it, right? Verell's car is an '83 (early QV) and should have it.
interesting! according to the bosch book it should be missing however Ferrari does do odd things. must be when they changed TB housings and started the use of the TPS (throttle position switch) since then they'd be competing for the same space. the ones that I've seen without them are the '84 on, haven't seen an early Qv.
That does seem odd -- the 308QV stardard (euro) SPC shows it does have one (and all the K-Jet without Lambda engines). Do you have a frequency valve on your 308QV (i.e., K-Jet with Lambda)?
this is an odd one, according to bosch they added a relief into the funnel for backfire protection. the early system used the diverter valve but had no frequency valve. I'd think that given the lambda feedback and the frequency valve the diverter valve would be redundant and not needed. bosch and ferrari are very hard to get info out of.
Just checked, My car does NOT have one. Like jwise & enjoythemusic's Euro QVs, we also do not have the TPS. My conversation w/Birdman went something like: I said something like: "I don't remember my car having one." Birdman replied: "You have to have one, it's an integral part of the CIS system." I hadn't looked one up in a FPC to see what it looked like said something like: "OK, If i've got one, we can swap them to see if it changes things." My Mondial QV WSM & FPC shows the Mondial as having it, as does my GTSi/GTBi FPC but it's not there in any of my QV/328 documentation. SWAG: Maybe the newer style was scarce so they continued to use the older style in the Mondials??
