if i see another 355 vs nsx thread i will ask rob to change my handle to 355nick
Yea, just giving it some more time. My gf and I are in the process of getting a condo in Rosslyn(across the bridge from Georgetown, D.C.) which admittedly is setting me back from the F355. As well, the Z I showed you pictures of is taking forever to finally get finished, the guy who did the body kit the first time seriously messed up, so I had to get the whole thing taken off/re-done, and painted. The wheels are custom made Work Meister S1s(think 80s Porsche Turbo Fuchs wheels, also used on Lambo race cars), and the interior should be done within the next couple of weeks as well. After I get all of this out of the way, I will hopefully be able to get one. The I don't view all NSX owners as wanna-be Ferrari's or too broke to afford a Ferrari, but a lot of the ones that I've met personally have always brought up Ferraris or act like an NSX is on par with a Ferrari, and there was the guy who was wearing a Ferrari polo and hat which I found amusing. Like I said before, I like some NSXs and didn't intend to offend anyone, but for me personally, I would not own one.
I know about cars & I'm not lost. I was into the whole JDM scene because of their technical capabilities... but as I posted earlier, EVERY Jap car lacks soul. I love Nissan products to death, but they leave me yearning to drive my Ferrari. But whatever...
Not this again! Some people choose 355s and some choose NSXs. There are reasons to choose either of the cars. I love them both but my cash went on the NSX, which has been amazing as it gets me to work every day (without fail), has had nothing go wrong with it that hasnt been covered by warranty, keeps up with 360CSs on the track (Im supercharged and have plenty of suspension/chassis mods) two dozen times a year and only asks for brake pads, tires, rotors and fluids while I drive the snot out of it. I cannot imagine doing that with a 355, even though it too is a great car. Its great at other things.
As much as I like my 94 NSX, buy what you want. I did. Drive as many cars as you can prior to making the decision. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here is the Ferrari content: I sold my 355GTB to UCONN Husky to get a NSX previously owned by Larry Ellison. Both Ferrari and Honda have rich racing history. Schumacher for Ferrari; Senna for Honda. Ferrri dominates now; Honda dominated in the late 80's and early 90's. Don't forget that Ferrari recruited many of Honda's top engineers to Maranello after Honda dropped out of F1. Both cars are great. I have owned 2 355's. The two things I sorely miss about the 355 is the rich leather smell and that amazing sound.
I like the NSX cars. The owners have a real sense of pride and keep them very well. Although the interior is not Italian, I would definitely not call it cheap. Maybe I'm too young to think of the really early Ferraris but what the NSX might lack in leather materials it makes up for in ergonomics and durability. If I had to choose one car and it had to be either a 355 or NSX I would probably go for the NSX. If I had to choose between the 360 and the NSX I would choose the 360. Someone start a 360 vs. NSX thread so we can get more opinions on that please. BT
Just a suggestion. If your interested in NSX's please go to their website to debate this or review the ridiculous thread on this subject from six months ago. Over and over this has been debated till it's dead, which this thread should be.Mod please shoot this thing and put us all out it's misery. Sorry Xavior, but this thread imo should just go away and should never have been brought up again to begin with..........anyone agree?
3 years? I take my engine apart & rebuilt it every weekend, just for fun! Why wait 3 years for that type of pleasure?
We'll start another thread when this one scrolls off the page. BT, the dash looks like vintage '80s Honda/Acura and IIRC the seats have some kind of rubber accordion thing going on in the backrest. On a daily driver, it's fine. When you're competing against Ferrari, all that hand-stitched goodness and sexy instrumentation is table stakes. Lambo understands. Aston Martin has turned it into an art (look at the instruments in the new Vantage V8.) Honda just doesn't think that way and I would call it cheap -- intelligently cheap, but certainly a compromise. Here I go, falling into this black hole thread, but the 355 and NSX feel very different to me. And I wouldn't call the 355 interior one of Ferrari's best. Ergonomics and durability are important, but in a list of fantasy car traits they just don't counter the rawness, the engine soundtrack or the startling beauty of a car like a Ferrari 355. NSX is a handsome car, just not graced with the fluid beauty of the 308-onward Ferraris. It's probably a Japan-vs-Italy design thing. Americans can't touch Ferrari either. Now, NSX versus Corvette ...
Yeh the 355 is just gorgeous not sure about the camero 348 gauges though.lol Listen to this 355 sing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzGYjcH5guc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3JXDS9Tn4Y Flag ship Honda Flag ship Ferrari wow. http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87661
yes the 355 has an amazing engine tone ( dont forget a V6 cant be compared in sound to a V8), and it handles amazing as does the NSX. But please dont give me that Honda this Honda that. I own a 95 355 , 90 Testarossa, 80 308 GTSi and a 92 NSX. The NSX holds its own against the 355. Handling goes to the NSX, shifting goes to the F car, interior well the Ferrari is not the easiest to get in and out of but the extensive leather is a nice touch, the NSX is more user friendly for every day driving, power- not real a comparison due to the F car having a tremendous advantage but the NSX holds its own up gaints the F car so thats a toss up. Im sure plenty of F-car owners have had or still have an NSX for its superb perfpormance. No one car is better than the other. It all comes down to a matter of preference. Whatever suits the drivers needs and expectations is the drivers choice of weapon on teh road or track. So to degrade the NSX because it is not a Ferrari or because it is a Honda is senseless. Credit should be given where it is due regardless of the make, model or time production of a car. JMHO..
I own a '91 NSX and wouldn't, at this point in my life, being 23 years old, drive anything else. Edmonton does not have a shop to work on Ferrari's, but I can take my car to any Honda/Acura dealer and get work done in the rare instances I need it. Of all the F355s I've been in, I like my NSX cockpit a little more. I find the dash layout is much, much better. I've never heard an NSX sound like an Accord. This is mine. (Yes it's dirty... daily driver!) http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y220/95EagleAWD/?action=view¤t=MOV00375.flv http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y220/95EagleAWD/?action=view¤t=NSXExhaustMPG.flv
i call BS!!!! let's see the pictures and I'll humbly apologize. you own all these cars and you can seriously say "shifting goes to the F car"?? if the nsx is known for anything, it's for the shifting. ask the developers of Fort GT, Mclaren and various other exotics. many have modeled their trannies on the nsx. listen all you NSX guys... your lucid arguments will go unheard here... IT'S FCHAT!! I agree with you guys... I love the nsx (hence my handle)... but please love it on nsxprime.
Haha, no Fcar with a gated shifted should win any shifting awards. Yes, it looks cool, but it sure isn't fast to swap gears with.
Maybe you have a LOT of calluses on your hands and you just aren't getting a good "look" at the NSX. I'll bet your seeing eye dog loves the attractive lines of the NSX. Kinda like "CHA-CHING, CHA-CHING, CHA-CHING", huh??? I LOVE the "mechanical symphony" sound of money when it's flowing into my hands!
