I need new coils on my 84 308. A search really didn't clear things up for me too well. It is my understanding that Bosch "red" is what I should buy.

My question is this; is there any special part # I need to know or is "red" all I need to look for? Seems that there should be more than one option under the red catagory. Maybe not.

Is there another option besides Bosch (such as MSD) that would be better?

In the case of the MSD Blaster coil I know there are at least two types. For the MSD guys out there - which Blaster coil will work on my 308?

    Thanks

I use MSD Blaster 2 coils on my 79 GT4. I believe you've been recomended the Bosch red coils because the blue ones incorporate internal balast resistors that would double up on the ones your car already has. If I understand correctly, you can go blue, but bypass the OE resistors, or go red and keep everything as-is.

I use MSD; others use Pertronix, Bosch, and so on. I think you'll find it's not as difficult (or confusing) as it sounds at first.

    Best of luck, Tommy....

Dr. T has a QV with an electronic ignition (no points), so no ballast resistors either way.

So the MSD Blaster 2 (part # MSD-8203) would be fine?
