    Florida folks,

I'll be in Orlando over Memorial Day weekend doing the Disney thing with my wife and kids. This is our first trip to the House the Mouse built so I don't expect much non-Mickey time. But if I'm able to break away for awhile any tips for seeing a few Fcars?

Also, I might be able to sneak out and watch the race Sunday morning. Any tips where to watch the race? Any places that are kid friendly? My 8 yr old might tag along. We're staying in Kissimmee on Avenue of the Stars.

    Thanks in advance.

    Steve

check out the orlando cars and coffee thread. It's on sat 5/26. I wont be there, but usually a good turnout. Holiday weekend may alter plans for quite a few though.

Even though I dont realy like Mike Thomas, check out one of his last columns on www.orlandosentinel.com Few good tips on enjoying the parks.

Tip wear lots of suncreen, light clothing, walking shoes and be ready for long lines. Get to the parks right when it opens and go to the hot rides first.

    last, HAVE FUN!!!!!

..No idea why you would pick Memorial Day.....you must get some pleasure from pain.

"so what have you done Memorial day?"
"I was standing in line at the ticket office at 8am at Magic Kingdom. Then in line to get through the gate, when I managed that by 11:30am my kids were hungry and we paid $10 for a Soda and $20 for a hot dog. Then we were in line for "Its a small world". Aparently not that small since we were in line till 4pm. My kids were hungry again and we spend another $30 each on Soda and Hot Dogs. Then we tried the line for Space Mountain but for that line we had to get over to Epcot, that is where that line started. So we settled for more Hot Dogs "

Be aware of the $4.29 a gallon gas at the Chevron/Wendy's just outside of the airport! This is about $1.25 a gallon higher than the three next closest gas stations. Just don't buy gas anywhere the prices are not posted on their street sign!

    To all,

Thanks for the tips, more like warnings! Memorial Day was not my idea, we are tagging along with another family (Disney veterans) that has a timeshare so we don't have any lodging costs; great friends to have!

Pray for me, sounds like I'll need it! Best wishes for your holiday weekend.

    Kevfla,
Thanks for the tip on gas. However, we are driving in from New Orleans area so no rental needed but I'm not looking forward to the frequent sticker shock at the pump.

    SimonF40,
My son and I will try to find our way to C&C; sorry to hear you won't be there.

Take a drive south on the Florida Turnpike for one of the most public sex shows you will find. Since you will likely have a rental, you won't mind the thousands of procreating "love bugs" that end up flattened on the front of your car.

I'm in the New Orleans area so very familiar with bug porn. No rental, personal vehicle will breakup the love making.

    Rob,

How was your time in NOLA? Business or pleasure?

As for C&C since it doesn't start until 10 AM we'll probably miss it in favor of getting to Mouse World when the gates open. Hate to miss your TR, those 80s redheads are what got me into my Ferrari affair.

Spend two weeks downtown at Harrahs. Combination anniversary/Mothers Day. Played a lot of poker... did touristy stuff too... beignets at Cafe du Monde, toured French Quarter, did a tour bus through entire city. Hard to believe the damage that is still there...;(
