    Tim,

Just what I was looking for. The metal work around the tail lights is amazing. Thanks. Paul

Bingo! This is the coup de grâce of the Daytona's design. Follow each crease at this quarter of the car and its ending is a surprise, like an optical illusion.

Pininfarina seems to have this way of making his work imitation proof. Kind of like the way the currency maker has his way of hiding a signature in the bill to make it safe from counterfeiters.

You are so right John. I have always been entrigued by the imagination of detail by Pininfarina.

Went to Spraytech today to catch up on progress. The car has had an awful lot of hours invested in her in getting the body 'just so' for painting. She has now been sprayed inside and out with high build epoxy which is the grey colour. What the spray shop have then done is give her a very light 'mist coat' from a black hand held aerosol can, so that when she is blocked back with a fine wet and dry she will be all grey and the black colour will have highlighted any imperfections. The next step is the yellow primer, again with the black mist coat, like the 308 in the background.

Tim, I hope your next project will be as exciting as this one. Sorry to hear that you will not finish it. I was very interested and followed your thread here and at the registry site. I am doing nut and bolt on my Daytona and will be posting pictures also.
Good luck in your next project!
    Max.

I'm sorry you didn't see it to completion. You did a beautiful job bringing it to this point.

some amazing pictures and info here
(not sure why you didnt pay the £9 for silver membership and unlimited pics, but that was your call)
after reading all the pages though im quite disappointed to here that we wont likely see the finished article.

good luck with the new project, can you tell us what it is ?

btw if you do keep it or decide what colour its going to be then i have to say the dark grey (same as the 599) would be stunning imo

bit of an unecessary comment wasnt it ?
what would you suggest he does - pay all that money and not rust proof it all ?
i havent seen any of the classic signs of over restoring such as massive chroming of everything etc

    Tim,

I hope you decide to keep going with it. With the prices still going up on the Daytona's, you will still be in the ballpark with the restoration costs.

Canna di Fucile it is. If she doesn't sell I am going to keep on restoring her.

    That came out BEAUTIFUL!!!

As well it should, after all your trials and investment! :D

I used that heavy metalflake silver on one of my cars.....great choice ...just great!!!!
Makes it look purposeful, like a large artillery piece.....

    Congrats!

    Thanks

I'm thinking that the colour of the masking paper (kind of like a tobacco colour) would make a good colour for an interior retrim, if I go down that route or keep the existing black.
