Ok, im asking another question here since everytime i do, someone diagnoses the problem within a day haha. when i put up my convertible top and lock the lever all the way down, it forces the joints in the convertible top frame to hyperextend downward. here is a picture. does anyone know the problem and solution to this? I would like to see the entier side view. Maybe the trailing window edging is in the frame groove not overlapping it. This would put excess strain on the frame and may bend the top part as you show. On the other hand the farme may have been damaged in the boot.
i would think that the window would have nothing to do with it.. for example, if the window is down, it should still stay locked in the correct position.. i wish i could run into another 348 spider one day just to look at the mechanics of one that is not doing what mine is doing
http://www.the348.com/technical/Tech/348SpiderTopProcess.htm ...By the way, I'm going to be in Houston on June 9th for the Drift Show-Off. Bring your 348 Spider out to it and I'll take a look at your top.
Is it the metal parts, or simply the weatherstripping starting to age & deform? On my car, the metals look to be decently aligned, but the rubber is aging & doesn't line up 100%
#1: Does your top sag in the middle prior to pushing the giant black lever down tight? #2: Does your top sag in the middle if you put it up into place while soaking wet?
