    Mark,

I've bought several from Eurospares and you've seen them in person on my Euro Dino...They are plastic, perhaps a resin based material with 3M self adhesive on the rear.

When you come over next, I'll show them to you...Besides, we both know that Julie has a better eye than either of us on these (chuckle)

PS - Are you really up that early/late in the morning?

Of course - best time to 4re search without getting distracted by other things that I should really be doing. Heck, it's the STARBUCKS effect.

The one on the right is NOTHING like what I received from Claudio at Eurospares, see the eBay ad as it is exactly what they sold me for GBP 8.50 each

I'd return what you got back to them and ask for a refund. They have the real deal, for some reason you didn't receive it.

    Thank you for the correction.

Make that: "They have the one shown in the Ebay ad..."

Like I said originally, those are belt buckles/paperweights.

Is Eurospares on Dave's suppliers list? If so, is it time to scratch them off?

I think we'd all be interested in a response from them.

Next time you're over to my house I'll show you what I've received for GBP 8.50, the are very nice and not what was pictured above (that buyer got stuffed and should return them)

Still heading into the Ferrari 12 cylinder market?

    SCOTTY, SCOTTIE, SCOTTI:

That STILL doesn't appear to be the correct wheel badge - it sure as heck appears to made of metal and has a metal edge. Also, when you click the "will it fit my car" link, the result, as you indicate above says: "Ferrari 246 Dino (1975)"

    What 246 Dino in 1975?????

the factory parts guide is for 1975, so maybe that is the dino they reference.

the plastic caps don't have any metal surround. i assume they were siliconed on. does anyone know how they were originally attatched?

These are the same as the ones I got from Eurospares.

The real question is: Does anyone know a source for the real ones?

To my knowledge, the absolutely correct original badges (no metal backing or outer ring) with a silver outline of the blue script have not been available for MANY years. The part number was 104367. Ferrari UK was reproducing them with the metal backing so the adhesive could stick to something other than the yellow paint or the plastic. These repros had a gold outline of the script and were sold under p/n 104367R.

Trivia: Ferrari also sold the prancing horse "insert" for 308/328/every-other-model snap-in wheel center cap (p/n 108947) separately under p/n 108373. This was only used officially on the 308gt4 hubcaps IIRC, and except for logo was identical to the 104367 cap.

So, is there anyone here who has the ability and interest to make "original" replicas? (No phone belt buckles, etc.)

I may be able to make one but I would need an original (for several months) while we tried to re-create it. Condition does not matter as I know the Pantone color palette for the Dino script from making the vintage key fobs. The physical item is needed for dimensions. It is really a process of trial and error with each version getting closer to the original until it is close enough for a final production run. I unfortunately know this from firsthand experience. If anyone has a sample to offer PM for details and I will keep people informed via updates on this thread. Andrew

I have a buddy in Italy that made an excellent Lancia horn push that was constructed much like the Dino horn push, at least the plastic part. Could ask if he would take on the project. What about copyright issues?

I don't think I heard (well, read) you correctly. I am sure you must have been thinking about that old Farrah Fawcett poster you have hanging in your garage, weren't you. No need to repeat or reply . . . .

    Greetings, All.

I've sent these seemingly original badges to Andrew, with an OK to sacrifice the poorer of the two in the interest of research. I'm hopeful that he and his contact can determine how they were made and come up with a quality replacement or, at least, a means of freshening up originals.

As you can see, one of these was re-attached at some time in the past...the 'aftermarket' glue attacked the yellow paint. I'm curious about the 'factory' glue that was apparently paint-friendly, yet bonded well.

Scott, were you able to provide a nice badge to set the standard?

    Cheers,
    Coop

Here's my other badge (4th one's missing) with a shot of the flip side. Note how the "Dino" script is etched/stamped on the back, as previously mentioned. And, I believe the color is black on this one, so it might be one of those well-executed, but color-blind, repros. Does anyone know who made the black-script version?

Here's an interesting, albeit unofficial, variant.
