Roller Coasters

Really, everything is safe. If you look at the wheels on a coaster next time youll see that there are up to 5 wheels per axle or set on eache side.

More weight = more momentum which translates into plenty of speed to make it almost anywhere. I wouldnt be worried.

 

I just got back from Cedar point yesterday!!!! It was amazing! The dragster...0-120 MPH in 4 secs!

 

Big Coaster fan when I have the chance. I think Six Flags Great Adventure, here in NJ has some of the best in world, but unfortunately you don't hear about them too often. Nitro is simply amazing, and I haven't gotten the chance to ride Kingda Ka b/c it broke down before we got on, but it just is nuts. There are actually signs along the pathway that say, "this ride may not make it over on the first try, it is designed to roll back safely and launch again" Any ride, that gives you a warning like this ahead of time has to be insane.

 

Ive been to Cedar Point 2wice. Wow! It's an amazing park and I love them roller coasters there.

My favorite would have to Top Thrill Dragster, Awesome Ride and thats the first time ive ever been scared, well a little , on a roller coaster.

 

Big fan of roller coasters here.. but has anyone been on Mission: Space at Epcot yet? I rode that with my brother and his wife a few years ago and my bro spent the next 2 hours puking. It's probably one of the best rides ever made, but it's actually been closed down a few times since a 4 year old and a 49 year old have both died after riding it. As far as I know, it's the only ride that includes barf bags. Definitely worth the trip to Orlando

Really? The ride hasn't even been open for 4 years (it will be 4 years in October). What you have for breakfast, Jack Daniels?

You must be thinking of Spaceship Earth at Epcot or something like that.

Its been a while since i was there

 

heh yeah man.. Mission: Space is the one that's built into a centrifuge. You hop into a tiny pod with 3 other people and it simulates a spaceflight. Press reports claim that astronauts who have ridden it say it's the closest thing you can get to the true feeling of a shuttle launch. Really must be experienced.

I haven't been on it yet, but hope to soon. I live in Orlando, but don't want to fork over the money to go to Disney (I prefer Islands of Adventure ). I heard it used to be g-forces from 3 to 5, but people complained so now they lowered it to 2.

 

I envy you American's with your huge roller coasters, where I live there are no big ones! only small ones

I like the incredible hulk at Universal, but I havent been to any of the parks in Ohio, they are crazy

 

The Dragster is more like being shot out of a cannon than a coaster. My, at the time, 10 year old son and I did it 3 times and then did a 10 story bungee jump. The bungee was nothing after the Dragster.

 

Mission Space, where you get strapped up in the rocket ship? I was on that ride 2 years ago. I know a few people have died on it though.

 

That is about the only way to sum it up. I can't even put it into words it was just purely amazing!

 

I play Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 all the time on my computer. A lot of fun to build your dream coaster!

 

Anybody else know of a really fun ride?

My favorite has to be the Beast!

 

I LOVE The Vortex, but it's definately been outclassed with the new super coasters. Sentimental attachment I guess.

 

Being from Western Pa, I have to mention Kennywood. Along with the Thunderbolt, it has the oldest running coaster in the US.

 

In Vancouver at the (PNE) there is a really old roller coaster im not sure how old it is but i think its one of the oldest that still work in North America its really old, I hurd that there takeing it down in a couple of seasons and bulting a new one!

 

I grew up outside of Pittsburgh~ Kennywood Park there had (and still has) a number of old wooden coasters. I doubt they provide the thrills of the new, high-tech ones, but as a kid they were a blast. There is also something about a bygone era of amusement parks, carnies, etc. that is fascinating.

I like wooden coasters more then steel. More of a rush and more of a sensation of spped to me.

 

I have had enough whiplash from that coaster. The mini doughnuts are ok though.

 

I agree with you there.

 

The Beast and The Son of Beast have to be at the top of every wooden coaster enthusiasts list. The Beast is classic wood, long ride (almost 4 minutes!) through the gorgeous Ohio hills. The Son is QUICK, bumpy, and has a frickin' loop. A LOOP! Not so scary on a shoulder-harnessed metal coaster, but a lap bar is all you have on this one, and there has to be enough wood used in this ride to make a log cabin Biltmore.
