    I'd take the Aston.

When I was younger, I was all about performance. I wanted the fastest for the cheapest (because money was an issue). I had Trans Ams, Corvettes, Vipers, even a twin-turbo Corvette. But as I've gotten (a bit) older, I appreciate a good looking car with good build quality, something I can melt into when I get off work and totally relax on the drive home. Ideally the car will also kick me in the b*lls when I ask it to. The Corvette can do the kicking, but it's not a great car to drive daily. I've had a bunch, and without fail the build quality sucks. After a while they rattle and fall apart. They have nagging problems and are not easy to drive at their limit.

I will take a car that I can enjoy for 95% of my driving, even if it's not as good as another car for that other 5%. If money was no object, my car of choice right now would be an SLR. Fantastic car that delivers in the comfort and performance categories. An LP640 would be nice too - plenty of speed and it doesn't have a bunch of interior parts off cheap econo-car like a Chevy does. You also won't see one on every street corner.

The Corvette is nice - it's an everyman sports car, because every man can afford one :) If you want something a bit more exclusive that will excite the eyes and be a pleasure to drive 95% of the time, the Aston is the one. If you wanna go on message boards and act like your car is better because it was cheaper and is faster, the Vette is the one :)

    Eva Langoria is very beautiful.

But if you saw her on every corner being driven by old guys with complexes, insecure middle aged guys, various women (well, anybody besides myself actually).... She just wouldn't look so pretty anymore.

And I think the numbers in the pole speak for themselves.

Yes, they do. That a large group of F-chatters in a certain age bracket value other qualities in a car. It has nothing to do with how good or bad the two cars aimed at different markets are in comparison to one another.

I must be in a minority of one because I've never found Astons to be all that good looking. Moderately pleasing, yes, but not "the sexiest car ever" by any means. I find the front end's curves end much too abruptly and bluntly. The Maserati's front (which somewhat resembles the Aston's) ends more elegantly, at least by my reckoning.

Given that I'm not a sucker for the Aston's looks, I find the lack of power and reliability to be overwhelming negatives. I'd take the Corvette in a heartbeat. Of course, there are no Corvettes here in Singapore (yet a handful of Astons) so the American car is the true exotic here! :D

The only make where I could ignore lack of performance in favor of aesthetics is Ferrari. I'd take an older Ferrari over a Corvette simply because it's a Ferrari. I'm not inclined to be so giddy over the Brit car.

Better looking? BETTER LOOKING? ...than either one of the cars in the title thread?

James rubs eyes and cleans lenses on his glasses...

OK, I get it - he means the last generation XKR, surely. But then, I must still ask - better looking than the Aston V8?

And don't let me get started on the "faster" - of course you do have that lovely slushbox going for you, and mom can drive it when you get tired.
