iT IS A SCAM--See related thread in the Dino section. I had some fun playing with the guy for a bit but then got bored of the whole thing.

Some of the words are identical between the two ebay ads!

if the guy's english weren't so good, i'd be signing off with the endings like, yours truly, yours forever, etc. the next email i send him will be questioning the shipping process, as well as not being able to open the container without him present. so, is he going to come here when the car is delivered to open the container when it arrives? :)

This whole things sounds like he went to the same school as our dear AW. He has done this same scam multiple times and gotten away with it. Damm I hate people that do this ****. Can't people just work honestly for there money. Just to give you an example, I got one of the Nigerian scams. I let him on for a while. This was his last email.

    Hello Antonio,

Well, i will first thank say thanks to you for getting back to me as you recieved my letter to you although i have been waiting to receive your call so that i can hear your voice and as well instruct you on what is needed from you to do.

I know how you felt as you recieved such proposal from a total stranger like me without any prior notice and i will not fail to inform you that this is not joke and should not be joked with because am still in service with the bank after which i will retire and come over to your country immediately this funds gets into your account in the next 7to10working days pending on how faster we will be in communication both through E-mail and Phone.

Because all the vital informations that will be use to perfect this claim as the next of kin or relation to the bank late customer is intact with me. Really i was mandated by our bank to locate any of the deceased customer relation or next of kin so that this $15.2MUSD will be transfered to him or her. And all my effort to no avail and i don't want this funds to be diverted into the bank treasure as un-claimed fund due to it will be shared among the Top ones here in our bank and government because of the corruption going on here in Africa.

And that was the reason why i capitalize on this before contacting you when i got your E-mail contact address with the hope that you will co-operate with me as an insider in recieving this funds into your account after the process involve.

Pls my dear brother, i will appreciate hearing from you both through email and call through my private line on +226 7650 7383 so that i will know your determination concerning this and i will give you every details on what i want you to do to make this dream come true because i have worked with this bank for many years without achieving what a banker surpose to achieve due to the bad ones here in the bank and our country and i believe this is the way all mighty ALLAH want to help me for the benefit of our both families.

I will stop here till i hear from you as am very busy now in the bank. Am looking forward also in hearing from you immediately/soonest.

    Thanks with my best regards
    Mr. A. Bello.

well, he sent me this number:
    (415)-992-8659

i'm a little nervous about calling it, to be honest.
also, i remember him having a ferrari, a 246 if i'm not mistaken, for sale, so i sent him one back asking if that's still available as well, in my words, "another car to add to my collection)

Why would he have a San Francisco phone number in Hungary....or Missouri? I called it. Got VM with the pre-recorded lady from the phone company.

Call him up. Leave him a message that you are in Troy and want to pick up the car. You can leave cash with the ebay rep. Leave the phone number for the FBI as the callback number. :)

ha! I've done that with a few of those who want to send you money orders for you to cash. I had them send the money orders to an FBI agent at one of the field offices, another scammer I had send them to the local police station.

    well, i ended it:
you know what, i can't go on with this. i will not be sending any money, my phone number, nothing to you, given that you are attempting to pull a scam. i will not take the time to explain how it is that i know you are pulling a scam, as that will only allow you to improve upon your ways. after i complete sending you this email, i will be forwarding a copy of all of your emails to ebay's scam team, as well as other notable sites. i will ensure that you will never be able to do this again. i will also be forwarding these emails to the proper authorities as well. i sincerely hope that you choose to end this way of making the "easy buck" and search for meaningful employment.

You forgot to add "in Hungary".

Here's a thread from the S2000 boards about how they tracked down a scammer and got him arrested.

that's pretty awesome, unfortunately i don't have the know-how to do what they did. i'm still waiting for a typical "but no, i'm not a scammer, and this is why" response from him. once it comes, i'll post it up. i did send ebay an email, but i don't think i'll go as far as to getting anyone else involved, it will be next to impossible to catch him. however, i do hope this last email has given him a little bit of the scare factor.

Tell him you can't wire the money, but you have cash that can be converted to a bank check. Tell him to send you a prepaid Fed Ex envelope to send him the bank check. When you get the envelope post up the account number and we can all fedex empty envelopes (using his account #) to each other all over the country and give him a hefty bill to pay.
