I understand the azzuro 360s are more challenging to work on, too. Also faster.

Yeah - that TomB guy sure knows his way around these cars, and very straight-up. Haven't had the pleasure of meeting or working with Rock yet.

Out here in the West I let Joseph work on my Italian Mistress:
www.prancinghorseinc.ca - he's got some interesting cars in the gallery for our little town up here.

In St.Louis I have used GLB Motorworks and have been real happy with them.
They have worked on Ferraris for a long time so they are very knowledgeable
and fair. I took my 308 to them and told them to tell me what is needed etc
(just a belt service or a full 30000 mile service etc....) Needed only belts and some fluid change, I appreciated their honesty because they could have said 30000 mile service and I would have had it done. Their website is
www.glbmotorworks.com I have also heard good things about Bently in Chesterfield Valley but I have not used them.

Grand Touring has to one of the finest organizations around. Only problem is that they have closed their doors to the public. They are doing high end rotisserie restoration now. There is a pair of 250 tdfs, a lusso prototype and a muira undergoing extensive modifications.

When they closed their doors to the public a couple of very experienced guys started their own shop called the Radcliffe Motorcar Company. They are led by Richard Garre and lead Ferrari mechanic Paul Lyons. They are located in Reisterstown MD 410-517-1681. These guys have worked on some of the finest Ferraris on the planet and now can tool on yours at very reasonable rates.

Check out the Mid Atlantic Thread http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=150210 for some pictures

    cheers

If I haven't recommended these gentlemen yet, let me do so now:

    Carobu Engineering
    930-D1 West 16th Street
    Costa Mesa, CA 92627
    949-722-9307

Tate Casey and Burt Wehr (sp?)

They rebuilt my Daytona engine recently, and I have nothing but good things to say about them.

They work on all years of Ferraris and other exotic makes. They do lots of 12 cylinder engines for historic racing. They got my engine to turn out 415 horsepower on their engine dyno.

I have an appointment with them for an annual on the 575M for the morning of the twelfth. I plan to wait for it. If this works well, it sure beats a trip to Bryn Mawr. BTW, I had my Lusso serviced by an independent by the name of Bill Pairo (now retired) for nearly 30 years. If they're good, they're really good. Will let you know on the thirteenth. Cheers.

IMHO the best mechanic in N. America is Bill Pollard at Sport Auto in CT. Bill maintains all of my cars, including the 365gt (#13141) with which I won the NE 1000 overall (perfect score for TSD, top 10 for track), my 400i DAILY DRIVER (#049773 - about to turn 50k miles), etc. He is also deep in the engine and transmission rebuild on my 365BB (#18265) - the quality of the work is second to none, and the prices more than fair. Go Bill!

Below are before and after pics on 365gt motor and before and before (not done yet) on 365BB motor.

    I used

    Ferrari of Silicon Valley
    Redwood City, CA

a couple of times and both experiences were good. The shop foreman is particularly nice and helpful. The shop is large, well organized and clean.

    These were the work done:
    Install Tubi
    Touch up bumper
    Add skid plates
    5000 mile service

Some F chatters don't like FoSV but there were lots of cars being serviced, including an F40, so they can't be bad enough to lose their business.

The recommendations by other F chatters will be more helpful if specific examples of good service are given.
