Woofer in footwell suggestion

Mistake #1 - letting a friend drive my car. Without a brake pedal on the passenger side I about ran my foot into the well rather than scream at his driving, bending the plate holding the speaker. Mistake #2 - a totally inadequate woofer housing.

Initially the foot well plate was 0.80 Fe with 1/2" angle at the top. Fortunately the plate was only bent but the woofer, due to a cast bucket was unharmed. It easily could have been warped.

I have since reinforced the plate with 1/2" steel box and spring mounted the 8" speaker to accommodate the less than perfect surface conditions.

Word and a picture to the wise. There are other ways of providing a strong mount but beware of what can happen in unforeseen circumstances.
