The last time I took it, I asked the Valet to park it in front "please." He responded with "Sorry, that's for VIP'S!" Not really the answer I was looking for
I can't wait to drive mine to Vegas. I prolly won't do it in the heat of summer though. Hey, do you have to be in the business to go to the watch and jewelry show. Hey Honey, wanna go shopping jewelry in Vegas? Can we take the Ferrari? Can I get another watch? I go every year to the SEMA show. You gotta check that out. Bee Jay
The JCK show is only for dealers unfortunately But there are a few other shows that do not require you to be in the business. Next yr we can try to put a caravan together That would be coool
I drove mine from Silicon Valley to Vegas and back in Feb. It made the world of difference. Long drive, but fun. Lots of people just pull along side and take photo's. I don't need much of a reason to pull out the 348 and go on a road trip. I've put over 5k on it this year alone.
If you have unlimited mileage on your insurance policy, or have plenty left, take the Ferrari. If not, think about how you wish to allocate your miles. Would this trip's mileage be best used here, or in a number of shorter jaunts? No - Take the Ferrari - in the name of science! Drive down the Strip on a Saturday afternoon as a test of your air conditioning and cooling systems! Valets have really gotten weird there. Ten years ago, I had a 15 year old Porsche 928 (automatic) that they always left out front at the Forum Shops. What does it take to be a VIP these days?
Take the Ferrari! Skip I-15 though, come up through my part of the country instead (Death Valley)! Took the Ferrari on I-15 once. Never again!
I'd like to know about the alternative route. The I-15 is fun when there is no traffic....and no cops.
From downtown LA I will go up the 2 freeway to Angeles Crest, up and over into Palmdale/Lancaster, Pearblossom Highway to Victorville, Route 66 in to Barstow. Then on I40 a little or a lot depending, back on to Route 66. East of Amboy, turn north on Kelbaker Road which takes you under the 40 and in to Mojave National Preserve. North to Kelso, Kelso to Cima, then north to 164. East on 164 to Searchlight, north on US95 in to Vegas via Henderson. Last time we came back from LV we drove the Old Mojave Trail - 130 miles in 7 hours. Mind you that was in the Jeep, not the 348... HATE is not a strong enough word for I-15. Cheers Kev
From Santa Barbara county, I take the Pearlblossom just south of Lancaster, but that takes me to the I-15. Sometimes I go past the Pearlblossom and cut thru Edwards AFB. Bee Jay
At Victorville, instead of getting on the 15, Route 66 runs up to Barstow west of the 15 and is a fun drive. Cheers Kev Image Unavailable, Please Login
Valet parking? Have you seen the way valets drive in Vegas??? I take my chances with the normal parking garages... this has worked great so far.
'Scuse me, I stand corrected. Did I say BORING. Well yeah, for the I-15, but doesn't this route sound neat? Thank you Kevallino. This I might be up for. Isn't this forum great!!!
Don't drive it. Fly. reason 1: I do not trust my Ferrari parked anywhere in Las Vegas except for my garage. Las Vegas=most stolen cars per capita than anywhere in the country as of two months ago (we eclipsed Modesto, CA. YAY). reason 2: In Las Vegas, no one seems to really care that it is a Ferrari. reason 3: It is so rediculously hot out here lately (over 100 the past couple days) that even the best a/c gets worked hard, let alone the Cavallino a/c speciale. just my HO. good luck!
