I have OMP racing seats in my 308 QV GTS that are mounted on the floor. Unfortunately, when on the track with a helmet, my head is level with the roof top, and with the top on (i.e. rain), the helmet hits the top.

I was thinking of cutting into the floor to lower the back of the seat some more. Has anyone opened up the floor? What's in there? I have looked into the floor of a Mondial and except for the seat mounting braces going across there is nothing between the floor and the bottom shield. Any advice / suggestions would be welcomed.

    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
My 84 gts had the drivers floor replaced with a
lower one when new, for the celebrity? first owner.
Very very nice job, works good for me (without helmet).

So your car is one of THE Ferrari 308s we are all familiar with?

Larry, thanks for posting that shot. How much did they lower the floor?

For those who have removed the bottom shield, do you recall what was in between the shield and the floor? Many years ago, I removed the bottom shield from my 308GT4, and if my memory serves me, there were only the cross bars that the seat tracks attached to. Is that the same with the 308 GTS?

The stock setup looks like the seat adjuster sits about 5/8" above the floor pan,
mine sits about 1" lower, so it lowers it about 1.5"
My car has no lower shield, the seat adjuster rail
nuts are reached under the car (really easy).

larry, do you have or could you take a picture of your car from underneath? That will give all the info I need before I start cutting.

    thanks,
    Paul
