Original Series I bumpers too. I wish mine looked that nice.

Nice looking car, in my opinion. I'd like to see this one sell.

<looking over my shoulder to see if condomhead is back there>

Look close in the trunk David, it even has the factory jack kit and tool roll. I don't know where that briefcase came from.

Good eye Art, I was wondering if anyone would notice those. The wheel ones have to go. Original Dino center emblems are NLA, there are some repros.

    That is a nice car.
If I didn't have a Ferrari, that one would be a keeper.

Looks like a great car. The giant cavallino on the back bothers me though....just a little over the top, and as mentioned the center caps. I even like the period stereo. Other than that seems okay. I wonder what a compression and leak down test would reveal...

I saw it last night too, its in Alabama, and I'd love to take a trip "back home" to get it, but this bothers me....

"Jim used the car as primary transportation and by the end of 1980 the vehicle had traveled 30,000 miles. The speedometer was replaced at 30,250. "

"When the previous owner purchased the Ferrari from Jim, it had not been driven for 15 years."

"The vehicle is Ferrari factory red (it was repainted in the late 1980's) and the total mileage is under 40,000."

Something just doesnt sound right there, why did this "Jim Attorney" store it for 15 years after using it as a daily driver for 4 years?

    It does look clean though.

EDIT: Its in the GT4 Registry, but only after 2004, no mention of the history.

...Dave? (if you're clear of fire)

    <sad laugh> no kidding

I can't tell from the pictures, they aren't quite clear enough.
There was a service bulliten from Ferrari which listed an add on kit for series 1 cars. I don't have it with me, but one of the other members of the GT4 Mafia will chime in with the number. Basically what it did was take some of the a/c from the top vents and direct it through new vents that were added under the dash. It looks like that kit, but as I said (trying to stay out of the line of fire from my groupie, Prophylactic, Condomhead, whatever) I can't quite tell.
Don't have my glasses, anyone's eyes better than mine?

<EDIT:> If that is indeed the factory add on kit, I'm jealous. Sure wish I had it in my car.

Looks pretty nice except for the obvious items. Whats the deal with the briefcase tool kit?

Off topic, does anyone have an extra original spark plug tool to sell me? :D

    <LAUGHING>

David, get smaller fingers. And quite trying to type while you're driving.

Back to the topic at hand; the seller says the car was repainted from silver.

I am guessing it would be expensive to return the nose badge back to a Dino one... Very nice car though - very tempting too...

This car actually looks really good. The only non-minor issue I would have is the color change. I actually like the red better than blue but I think not being it's original color detracts from it somewhat. I'd have to see how the color change was done...ie.. door jams etc.

Otherwise it looks pretty clean. I really like what they did with the valve cover in polishing the raised portions of the cover. That looks classy.

This is the car that James in Denver should buy. Do a major and you're still at a good deal. This looks like a winner!! If the car checks out in a PPI, who cares where it was stored!

    I am soooo tempted...

No smog stuff so add that to the list. Air pump is a Trak Auto item; you need two. The brackets, well, that might be a challenge unless you don't care about authenticity.

    Why don't I need this car?! Hmm, wife, ... GT4. GT4, .. wife. Choices...

frank & Dave, I owned 10360 many moons ago. I purchased & installed the factory kit at that time. If my memory serves me, the vents looked similar to those in 10050. I'll dig out a photo & post it for comparison.
    Cheers,

    Coop,
We'd LOVE to see those photos.
Thanks a lot for the trouble of digging those out for us.
Those factory kits are pretty rare. I tried to buy all the parts last year and most were NLA.

    Vince,
Here's a quote from the BAR website:
    http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov/StdPage.asp?Body=/Smogcheck/doineed.htm

"Beginning April 1, 2005, the 30-year rolling exemption has been repealed. Instead, vehicles 1975 model-year and older will be exempt. Therefore, 1976 model-year and newer vehicles will continue to be subject to biennial inspection indefinitely.

Beginning April 1, 2005, vehicles being initially registered in California that were previously registered in another state are exempt if the vehicle is a 1975 and older model-year vehicle."

So, unless anyone has better info, it would appear that the lack of smog pumps (don't forget, there's more to the pollution control system than pumps) is not a factor.

It does making it tempting that smog would not be a factor going forward, especially here in Cali.

    So tempting. :(

Yep, you are correct, that's the law regarding smog checks which are the biennual tests for emissions. You don't need that for 1975 and earlier. BUT, you do need the equipment:

    http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov/stdPAge.asp?Menu=/includes/Menu_GenInfo.htm&Body=/Geninfo/Publications/Used_Vehicle_Smog_Equipment_Requirements-Jan_1993.htm#Verify%20that%20the%20vehicle%20has%20the%20smog%20equipment%20required%20by%20law

"4.) Verify that the vehicle has the smog equipment required by law.

Check for required emission control equipment

To be sure that all required emission control equipment is actually on the vehicle, have it checked by a licensed Smog check technician. "

So if you're in CA, put the crap back on! Actually, if you are an exsting owner, this does not apply. A new owner needs to comply. HOWEVER, the question has always been, "Who's going to check this out?" I think BAR's position is that it is the consumer's responsibility, but it's a don't ask don't tell thing. This law is applicable back to the advent of PCV's.
