I would go with Senna, in a McLaren F1 (would have been an Enzo, but I want to see him rowing the gears!), around the 'Ring.

Holy cripes! Are you guys all members of some masochistic cult? Do you realize how terrifying such a ride would be?

I had a few rides with race car drivers/instructors and my feet were constantly trying to brake through the footwell on every corner approach. It was absolutely terrifying and unpleasant. It was also impressive and instructive. Every time I read an article about a journalist given a ride by a pro, their sentiments are similar. Just recently I read one about a guy who got a ride in a Porsche with Walter Roehrl around the Ring. It sounded like your worst nightmare. And on the Ring that can last an eternity of about 7 minutes. Or even a real eternity.

You will like this, Hans-Joachim Stuck in the BMW M3 GTR at the Nurburgring Nordschleife. An amazing drive !

It is indeed. But there is one, that is even more amazing: Derek Bell in a 956 around the Ring. And he beats Stuck handsomely.

If I were single, I would take the opportunity to be the co-pilot a ride with Eddie Irvine to a club in Monte Carlo or something. Laps around the Ring, LeMans winning car? Yeah ok, neat...

But since this topic is not too fact based, I would throw some twists into it and say I would rather prefer to be a passenger in a ride with my wife driving me to the local Ferrari dealer to pick up my black Enzo. Even if it was for 10 minutes and rush hour 25 mph pace, with that girl and that destination, gee you all can have your F1 drivers!

No cults. How cool would it be to say i went round the 'ring with Senna in a McLaren F1. The only stipulation i'd have is that we'd change seats for the second lap...........:)

It's such a rare opportunity. Yes, it would be terrifying, but in all the right ways.

I recently rode shotgun in a 430 F1 with the Italian Formula 3 Champion.....wow, unbelievable! So smooth, so in control..........so freaking fast! Made it look soooo easy.

If it has to be an F1 driver, i'd go with Tazio, hands down... i would prefer it be on a motorcycle, but if not, whatever car he liked the best is perfectly fine with me...

If i could pick ANY driver outside of F1, i would go with Count Volpi in something really quiet, like a Corolla or a Civic... The drive may be a bit too calming, but i suspect the stories would certainly make up for that... :)

    Hmmmmmmm

Give me Phil Hill in a Ferrari 340 Mexico in La Carrera 1953.....

Or perhaps Jim Clark in a Lotus Cortina around Silverstone...

Make that Fangio in a '40 Ford Coupe in the grueling Gran Premio del Norte.

I have taken many students around Road Atlanta. To the uninitiated, they are generally shocked by the first hot laps. Its funny to watch neophytes freak out as you go deeper and deeper into the braking zone at turn 10. Arms waving about, legs bracing for a crash.... its just very hard to grasp exactly how hard a racecar can brake if you have no reference point. NNO.... I can arrange a ride for you bro....

Although they didn't need to change the seat, I have been there and done that (not Senna but a real pro racer taking me for a ride around Road America). I'm at the point where I'd side with Gilles27 and much rather have a beer with Eddie after the driving is done. Or whatever "apres ski" endeavours he follows...

I read a statistic that says on average one person dies per week on the Ring trying to do these stunts. We lost some FChatters there.

how about with Ari Vatenan in the peugot on that classic drive up Pikes Peak?

Sandro Munari on a changing snow, ice, and asphelt suface in the Lancia Stratos at the Monte Carlo Rally.

or With Walter Rohl in the group B Audi 220kph on dirt in rally finland

Any of the old group b cars with the drivers of their day. Loeb, Solberg, Gronholm etc.. are good, but with all the technologhy running the wrc cars today they can pretty well point and shoot, unlike the old days when the cars would be sideways given any chance.

Also around Bathurst (in Australia) with Peter Brock or Dick Johnson. Coming through skyline at the mountain makes the corkscrew at Laguna look like a kindergaten ride.

I'd have a ride with Jackie Stewart in a McLaren F1 LM. I'd let him pick the location. I'm sure he's more qualified with that descision than me or anyone else short of another F1 champion.
