Folks, over 260 cars Friday June 8-Sunday, June 10 at VIR. 250GT TdeF, 250GT LWB, 250GTO, TWO Birdcage Maseratis, D-Type Jag, C-Type Jag, Chaparral 1, all kinds of neat stuff!

Saturday is the best day to go (most folks are still running), hope to see some of you up there!

-Peter (we're looking after TEN cars, not hard to find "Big Blue" the K&E semi, right across from the CDOC shop...)

This looks like a lot of fun! Anyone from Charlotte want to cruise up to VIR on Saturday? I do still need the wife's permission....

I solved that problem as my wife is coming to VIR with me! We'll be there all three days and looking forward to seeing a lot of nice cars and good racing. We'll be driving up there in her chilli red Mini Cooper with the Union Jacks all over it. We're even hoping to get it into a parade lap on Saturday. I just wish I had some outrageous Italian or British growler to drive up there. Oh well, maybe someday soon...........

The wife and I spent all day at Friday practice and had a great time. We're both very tired after the days events, but looking forward to Saturday and Sunday. My wife was going crazy over all the vintage Minis, but my attention was drawn to what is turning out to be my favorite Ferrari of all, the 250 SWB. This white version is absolutely beautiful and I envy the owner. Needless to say I wouldn't mind taking it around the track a few times.

More comments and photos of the event as my energy levels permit!

The Kremer-Porsche 911 and the #16 Scarab were driven by Rob Walton. The yellow Birdcage and the #28 Jag D-Type by Tom Mittler, the 250 GT Interim by Lulu Wang, the 250 GTO and the #238 Birdcage by Tony Wang and the #33 Maserati 450S by Nicola Soprano. Good times were had by all.

Also Brian Johnson was in the Paddock for the weekend. He brought his Nissan Pilbeam to VIR for the Historics race. If you don't know who Brian Johnson is , well he is the lead singer of AC/DC. I chatted with him for a lil bit which he seemed pretty cool. Here is a picture of his car.... Well I guess he isn't "Back in Black" this time around

Actually Pete, there were two 908/3's there. The one in Martini livery was Greg Galdi's car and the Gulf colored 1970 car was John Romano's car. Also, the overall winner of the 1968 Daytona 24 Hours was racing, the 907 Langheck of Henry Payne, III.

I'd want to do a lot of research before buying a car from John Starkey...

The "Kremer" car advertised on Starkey's site has a slant nose not seen until well after the point in time that the Walton car was actually raced. It says in the ad that the car was "built up" for Opperman and raced in German club events. It looks pretty "bitsa," really...

The Starkey-advertised Kremer is definitely not a twin, but it's possibly a fair representation of the current state of the market for the marque and model. Although, I would venture a guess that a legitimate, factory-built product will sell at a premium over a Kremer, DP, Joest, Schuppan or Fabcar-built Pcar. Not always the case, obviously, but the right provenance has much to do with the value. I'm still kicking myself for not buying up one or two 956/962s when they were in the $200Ks. Ah, missed opportunities!

ha ha...i have the same bad feeling in my gut. i seriously contemplated a 962 a bout 3 years ago...mid 200's was all the money for a good one. maybe not a le mans winner but a good one. well those days have come and gone!!

Here's a photo of one of my favorite British cars that was there, a beautiful Allard J2X. I know it's not a Ferrari, but hey, it's a red car! These monsters were making wonderful noises at VIR that weekend.
