Does anyone know for sure what colour the spark plug leads were on a Series II GT4 when new?
Mine are red on a 79 Series II, as were the ones on a 78 which I was looking at. Both cars are in original spec condition, so I would agree with red.
They were red but I switched to solid core black wires on the suggestion of Alan Bishop in his book Ferrari Performance. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Me too. Only because my original Cavis wires were quite hard and dirty. I purchased the wire in bulk form (carbon core, not solid), all of the plug clips and boots and made my own set.
I like the solid core as I was a musician and it reminds me of speaker wire. Plus it is illegal in CA as it interferes with CHP radios and I never have a short, and it is used for racing, but it makes radio useless..... Rob danger is my middle name
http://www.magnecor.com/magnecor1/main.htm SOLID CORE CONDUCTOR WIRES Solid metal (copper, tin-plated copper and/or stainless steel) conductor wires are still used in racing on carbureted engines, but can cause all sorts of running problems if used on vehicles with electronic ignition, fuel injection and engine management systems, particularly if vehicle is driven on the street and damage to some original equipment and modern aftermarket electronic ignition and engine management systems can occur. Solid metal conductor wires cannot be suppressed to overcome EMI or RFI without the addition of current-reducing resistors at both ends of wires. cool........ Rob "Danger" Garven
