Hypothetical driver to replace Kimi/Massa for '08?

Massa IMHO does a great job as #2. I'd keep him in that role.

I thought he was referring to Hamilton and Massa being the top two drivers in F1 in the future.

Massa not in F1's top three, says Todt

May 8 (GMM) Felipe Massa is not among the top three drivers in F1. That is the admission of his Ferrari team boss, Jean Todt, who is also the father of 24-year-old Massa's personal manager, Nicolas. Clearly referring to Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso, Todt Sr said at the Nurburgring: ''There are three drivers in this championship who have a bit more than the others. ''I think Felipe is among the best behind them.'' Massa, on a one-year contract at Ferrari and with an uncertain future at the team, rose to his first podium in Germany on Sunday. But technical director Ross Brawn told Reuters that he would like more 'consistency' out of the team newcomer, adding: ''He just needs to develop and work with the team more closely.''

Since this is only a year ago, doesn't it blow apart your beliefs that Massa does all of the work for the team? And that's he's number 1 and that he isn't "golden"?

 

Going back to the salary issue.....

I didn't read every post very closely, so I don't know if someone brought this up, but Kimi's huge salary is probably due to sponsorships. Is Marlboro still going to pay Ferrari 50 million a year for Felipe Massa and god knows who else to drive. It doesn't matter if he is losing, what matters is that Kimi is a big enough star to sell products. I wouldn't buy a pack of cigarettes if I saw Felipe Massa's face on it. Kimi on the other hand..... (Sarcasm Disclaimer: I don't smoke and I think it's ridiculous that Marlboro and other F1 sponsors pay the money that they do. But apparently it has some great financial benefit for the company. I buy things because I want to, not because they are associated with Ferrari or whoever, and I'd like to think the same goes for most people.)

But anyway, give Kimi time. He's driving a car that was designed for MS to drive. And Massa has become good at driving a car made for MS. Either Kimi will help design next years car, or he too will learn to drive like MS. Being on new tires doesn't help and having his terrible luck isn't too great either.

Last year at Montreal, MS was down what, 25 points? Something like that. He came back. Kimi might, too.

Sorry to say this guys but Kimi is overrated and overpaid.

I AM a Ferrari fan and i want whats best for the team. Kimi is not best for the team. Their losing money on him.
