Anyone have a good source for the flywheel re-packing grease near chicago? I called he local dealer and was told they don't do it because it doesn't work! (I did't bother to ask them how much for a NEW flywheel assembly!!) ;o) Scott

(They did have the shaft seals in stock)

?Doesn't work? What do they use instead? I know it's just high temp grease, but do they use a different brand or do they just not pack the flywheel?

By the way new flywheel for $3200 comes packed with fresh Kluber grease.

Hogwash! half the guys on Fchat have done this including me. It works and with many different types of grease too. DaveHelms brought up a good point which I never considered. He has repaired some FW's with the wrong kind of grease which clumpped and through off the FW balance. It made all kinds of problems for him. With greases I have tired my problem was getting thich enough grease. anyway oem kluber is the best and danial has it. Or you can be el cheapo and search this forum for the grease I posted a picture of which I have tried and works fine too and it is about 10 bucks a tube. 250g by the way is what you use amazingly 1/2 of a gluber grease can

Say, ......... did you also get a new seal for the flywheel? Since you'll have it apart already you may as well put in a new one. You don't wanna go through all the trouble of repacking the flywheel just to have the old seal give out on you, and fling all the new grease everywhere. You may even want to change the triple seals on the out put shaft too.
