    I just spoke with the guys over at Vintage, they have been doing a 40K major service for me as well as checking out ANYTHING that may need to be done.

    At this point I dont have a clue how much I am into this but Ferda tells me that all of the bushings in the front end need to be replaced. I think this is something that I would like to tackle myself but I need to find a place where i can either buy all of the bushings sperately or in a kit...

    Any ideas?

    By the way my car is an 87' 328...just in case you didnt notice my log in.

    I have found a lot on the site about 308 suspension but not the 328..i dont think they are the same, are they?

    Changing the front end bushes is a relatively straightforward job but you've just got to be careful when removing the suspension arms from the car as there are shims in various places that need put back exactly as they came off.

    The bushes themselves are tack welded into the arms so you'll need a Dremel rotary tool to grind off the welds and a mig welder to tack the new bushes in place.

    The shims are at either sides of the top and bottom ball joints and at the back of each of the wishbone mounting forks. Ideally once you've completed the job you should get the castor/camber and wheel alignments rechecked.

    It's also a good opportunity to get the wishbones shotblasted and repainted while they're off to keep everything looking fresh under there.

    I believe Birdman came up with a way to do the job without taking the welds out. Do a search for his write up.

    That looks great, I have a press and a mig welder so I would hope that this can be a weekend project. Is there anything else that I should order to replace while I am there? since everything is going to be apart i would rather order parts ahead of time and just replace them while I am at it instead of finding something that needs replacing and WAITING for parts.

    Please forgive my ignorance but I have only had this car for 26 days and it has been at the shop for 23 of those days so I have not had much of a chance to inspect anything yet.

    By the way, where would you recommend I order the OEM bushings?

    I found Birdmans write up...GREAT WORK! However I think I am going to go the OEM route, unless someone can talk me out of it. I have all of the equipment needed to do it the original way.

    Why didnt Ferrari build these where they could be replaced? Was it just one of those things they werent worried about..."if you need to replace the bushings just replace the a-arm too?

    I replaced everything under there.....shocks, shock bushes, balljoints, track rod ends, D bushes, wishbone bushes, brake hoses (Goodridge), drop link bushes, steering rack mounting rubbers, rack gaitors ....... even rebuilt the steering rack.

    I was doing a full resto on the car so did everything at the same time. I got most parts from Superformance and Eurospares in the UK.

    Can't see how you could change the wishbone bushes without cutting the welds unless you reuse the old outer sleeve of the bush. I suppose it could be done but I'd rather spend the extra time and replace the whole bush myself.
