Yeah because you have to put things in perspective. If you're beaten by Michael Schumacher or Mika Hakkinen or Fernando Alonso, but you've managed to beat the other teammates you've been partnered against (minus Kimi for DC) then you're not doing bad. The whole reason why guys like Michael, Mika and Fernando are regarded so highly is because their talent is supposed to be so excellent and so rare, that it shoudln't be shameful to be beaten by them. Someone has got to partner them afterall.

Then again, if you are partnered with a great, then it's your job to pull out as many points as you can for the team to capture the constructors. There were times when Fisi, and maybe the others, weren't as high on the grid as maybe they should have been.

well, Rubens was settling into a new team last season. he was also trying his left foot braking, which didn't go well.

this season, Honda is counting on him and not Button to develop the current car, and next year's car. so thats why retaining Rubens, IMO, is vital.

the same can be said for Fisi. he's doing a good job this season for a wounded Renault. if he didn't jump the red lights last weekend, i think he could have finished 3rd or 4th. just like Rubens, they're looking at his experience here to develop the car.

as for DC, i think they're doing a smart move. 1 veteran, and 1 youngster on a team. look at Toro Rosso if u wanna compare...

That was no luck. Ron groomed LH for years. Strange others are too lazy to do the same thing.

    Let's see.

    From the headline:
    You end up with this:

How does resigning = teams liking the drivers work?

As I posted before, WHO were they going to sign? A total rookie? Their test driver? WHO?

That's exactly what you're known for with your off the wall predictions that never turn out, like DC and a few other impossibilities taking podiums. And your so called "inside" information that never pans out. You miss a lot more targets than you hit.

And if your reading comprehension was better you might be able to understand the most basic replies.

Also didn't you jump down my throat because of a "personal attack"? Now you're attacking me? If you're going to play the weak, unfunny, inflexible guy, stick to your game plan, you can't cry like a baby one day than spout off like a regular Joe the next day.

No you quoted, then stuck words on the screen that weren't spoken by anyone within F1. Let me quote you again.

    Says who? You assumed that.

And by the way every driver in history has received flak. Most of them weekly for their entire careers!

How many point does Rubens have? ZERO! And his team mate basically finishes DIRECTLY behind him in every race except for a couple of retirements.

So is Rubens is partly to blame for the car's piss poor abilities? Zero points and a lot of sub 10th position finishes?

If that's true why isn't Renault leading the standings? Why are they a WHOPPING 67 points behind after only 6 races? And I have never read or heard about Giancarlo being such an asset. He's been around awhile and I've never read anything to support your statement of him.

Also why does he ONLY have 5 more points than Kovalainen? 165 starts for Fisi and 6 starts for Kova, you tell me who's doing better!?

If G. Fisi is soo good at development why isn't the car better? If he's such a good driver why can't he score more points? Why has he never challenged for a title? Why did Alonso win 7 races last year and Fisi only 1? Why did he score about half of the points that Alonso did? Why isn't he a two time world champion???

Answer any of these questions because they are all factual, whereas your statements are simply your statements.

David has been around longer than any other driver... could THAT be the very obvious reason why he's staying on the team???

David probably has been a help with the car but who's to say "immense"? Again you add words to other people's statements.

I AGAIN will directly quote myself, since you missed it the first few times.

AGAIN, WHO else were they going to choose?

Everyone knows that but you imply as if you run the show. I also know that there is a limited number of drivers that a team can choose from from year to year and it's safe to say they stick with people who know the ropes other than to get green horns who most likely can't score more points in the up coming season or seasons after that... which means they would be STUCK with the drivers they have!

I don't know where you get all of your F1 insider information but I can guess you're getting it from the Prost team.

You can apologize for your personal attack now.

    You have major issues.

Personal attack? Look in the mirror. Get real, all I did was RESPOND to your BS and personal criticism of my original thread. It is as if you have a Napolean complex, and you need to prove something. This is only a racing form, nothing more, just for fun. Disagree all you want, but you should stop making comments about the one posting as you did here about me. Otherwise they respond back truthfully telling you that you make moronic statements.

I am very content with the credibility of the people I know that give me information, so frankly, I really do not give a rat's ass what you think. Best that you just ignore my posts, and I will ignore yours.

Ron, with some people, it’s best to just not respond. There are a few people on this board I find unreasonable and incoherent. Anything you say is going to be wrong. I really don't see the point in arguing online as these same people love to do. I'd just let it roll off your back and deal with the people who have something valuable to add. It's not worth dealing with the always negative and argumentative people.

You can't respond to the very black and white comments, so you turn it against me. Classic!

Again you pout like a child when someone even remotely pokes fun at one of your replies and you demand an apology. Yet when you do it, you think you're standing on some morale ground, what a baby!

    As for complexes!?

Give Ron Dennis a call tonight and see what's up for this weekend, I want to lay money on the race.

Go get some of your great intel of yours!

    HA!

This is Flav we're talking about. He can change his mind pretty quickly if GF continues to have bad races. Fisi is a big part of the Renault developement but he doesn't do anything with it in the races. This year Renault doesn't seem too good or getting any better. Fisi could end up testing next year.

+ 1. Fisi has consistently outpaced his teamates throughout his career with the exception being Alonso and that is nothing to be ashamed about.
Someone said how Fisi didn't help Alonso enough last year. For God's sake he clipped Michael Schumacher and that clinched the title for Alonso :)

Sigh.... apparently Ron's put down the crack pip and all of you have picked it up and are going to town. ;) Fisi is still in the Renault seat for two reasons. First is he's probably one of the best development drivers on the grid. Sometimes designers come up with a new car and it's a dog. Renault and Honda are the two examples this year. We've seen McLaren in the same situation a few years ago. Second while Fisi isn't as fast as Alonso he is faster or equal to most on the grid. So, who're you going to go with? Considering the situation Renaults in it seems to me a no brainer to keep Fisi. He's in a dog of a car and while his team mate hasn't been as fast as he has been his teammate isn't slow. Many people were pre season were saying Heiki was going to be the next Niki, you know setting the place on fire. Fisi knows how to get the maximum out of the car and Heiki doesn't. Any points finishes Fisi has this year is a testament to his driving and not to the car.

Don't sell Fisi short. One of the reasons Alonso was able to win two WDC is because of the car he was in. Given Renault's and more importantly Flavio's commitment to Fisi I'd say he had a very big hand in that car.

At the moment Renault is moving forward in their development while Ferrari seems to be standing still. It'll be interesting to see how they end up speed wise at the end of the season.

I believe Fisi takes an unwarranted beating here. He definitely isn't the most talented driver in F1 but he is far from the worst. He is an above average driver. There is so much hatred for him, especially on this site. Some of the comments I have read in past threads were completely unnecessary. In 05 Fisi made mistakes but his car often broke while Alonso's was bulletproof. Last year I thought he underachieved. Yet he still had a chance to finish third in the championship. He finished 4th which is not horrible. I expect Renault to continue to be stronger as the year continues. Last week Fisichella messed up in qualifying in the final session but quickly moved up during the race. He was on pace with Massa until they both were blacked flag.

I would make those same arguments about Massa, frankly.

Rubens was closer to Michael in terms of outright speed than any other Ferrari teammate, including Massa. I figured this might be Rubens last year but apparently Honda didn't think so. My guess is that given the troubles they are having this year, continuity was more important than bringing in a young driver.

    You mean other than Massa?

I don't recall Fisi being blown off by any teammate other than Alonso. He matched up well against Button and Heidfeld, two of the better drivers ont he grid.

I think Fisi is doing a decent enough job at Renault, certainly not setting the world on fire but not embarrasssing himself or the team, either. My guess is that Renult wants to maintain a veteran in the team while they develop Heikki.

I am not unhappy to see these three guys returnign for another year. If anyone is past their sell-by date, it is Ralf. I have a feeling that he is finished, no way Toyota keeps him and where else can he go?

I think Fisico, Rubens, and DC all deserve another shot.

Fisico obviously is struggling with the car. No matter how good a driver is, if the car is crap, it sure is going to be really hard to keep it on the pace, and I think unless one of us knows what it's like to sit in the cockpit with 19,000rpm blurring your vision and destroying your hearing while trying to find mere tenths, we should be a little careful about what we say. He has proved a bad team driver this year with his comments just before Barcelona, but really, he was just being candid about how he feels, and who can really criticize someone for doing that?

I seem to remember just three years ago, Rubens set the track record at four tracks, Suzuka, Montreal, Indy, and Autodromo Nazionale de Monza (I just felt like spelling it out). I'm positive he isn't the problem, its the car, as is very well known by now. The younger JB, who last year was supposed to be a WDC one day, is now doing worse, so I think that says that experience is really worth something.

DC's perfomance is not bad at all. He did very well in Barcelona, and at least two of the DNF's weren't his fault-Malaysia, and Bahrain. He is very experienced, determined and a reliable points scorer. As was mentioned, new hotshoe drivers bring in a repair bill, and he doesn't. Red Bull Renault would be a fool, in my opinion, to not keep him.

    Just my .02 cents.
