You did, and that's the one I'm talking about, but it's $100 to crate and $200 to ship on top of the $1,849 price, so it takes $2,149 to put it in my hands. Plus, they said it was 4 to 6 weeks out because it's a custom order and not something they keep in stock. I was hoping to find a custom glass maker that could do it, and they have to be out there because windshields for one-off and customized cars have to come from somewhere. Several companies exist to do polycarbonate windows for race cars, but I can't find one to do it out of real glass. I don't think I'll do it, but at two grand-plus, I think looking into alternatives is understandable.

markcF355, All windshields are tinted slightly green, at least since the mid-60's or so. For a lot of 60's era cars you can get windshields in either clear or green tint. You don't notice the green but you'd notice if it weren't there. Try rolling a window partway down and compare the color through the glass versus the open air; you'll see what I'm talking about.

The glass for a 400i came in 2 colors from the factory; bronze and green.

Gaps on the driver's side look pretty good. Thats a feather in your cap.
What do they look like on the passenger side?

I've got to to tell you this.
You started your project when I was halfway finished with mine. I was at the point where I thought about digging a large hole and pushing the whole **** heap in and forgetting about it. Your charging ahead with a seemingly insane project has inspired and rejuvenated me.
    I thank you.

+1. The silver over black looks really cool, a bit like the 575 GTZ that was in Forza magazine last year.

You've all been invaluable to the project, so thanks for your help and support. I need to give a lot of credit to my father too, because he is far more skilled with welding and metalwork than I. I couldn't do it without him.

Everything's coming along: the doors are lining up acceptably and the windows work. The dents on the right side have been pulled out and I'm stripping the paint in preparation for the rest of the body work.

I'm still on the prowl for a windshield. I had one ordered, but they are now claiming their supplier no longer makes it. I would appreciate any leads.

Great thread. I am glad to see a car like this getting treated like it should, rather than being parted out. Keep up the good work!

Eurospares had one but they wanted an obscene amount for shipping - something like $1300 on top of the price of the windshield. The way things are going, that may be my only choice.

I put in a request at Ferrari Parts Exchange and I'm waiting to hear back.

I haven't heard of Lebo Glass. Does anyone have their contact info?

Preston, truly an inspiration. Makes me want to get moving on my Alfetta. <grin>

If you could give me the contact info for the place in Finland that would be great. It's worth a try at this point.

Dave, The number 44887 was on a piece of paper taped to the door frame of the extra body. Is that the chassis number? Every remaining number on the car is shown in the attached photo. Hope you can identify it!

    Re-read the above...

    I have # 44"4"87 as a total 1983 car.

No info or record of # 44"8"87.

Wonder if someone made the same mistake and read the number wrong.
