Hay guys, I was driving out to Dix Hills this morning and right when i was getting up to exit 51 I noticed that the exit was closed, and we were redirected to the next exit. As i approched exit 52 thats when i noticed what i believe was a Red 355 on the side of the service road. Then when i made my turn around and i got off exit 51 on the intersection i notice what appeard to be another car that was also smashed. Just wondering if any one knows anything about this and I truly hope that everyone is okay.
I've been in New York and my house in Vegas. Just relaxing and working, how have you and everyone else been?
Nothing whats up with you guys. I noticed a really bad accident on the LIE this morning with what i believed was a red 355 and just brought some concern to you guys?
Fiery LIE crash claims life (06/17/07) DIX HILLS - One person was killed Sunday in a fiery crash on the LIE between exits 51 and 52, according to officials. Chopper 12 was over the scene of the fiery Dix Hills wreck where responders appeared to recover a body. The accident backed up traffic for miles on the eastbound side of the expressway. Officials eventually reopened all lanes except for the service road and right lane. However, delays were expected to continue. The investigation is ongoing into the cause of the crash.
That is very sad I hope more details are released. Was it the owner of the 355 that was killed? My condolences to the family and friends...RIP.
R.I.P According to the News 12 Speeding driver dies in fiery LIE crash in Dix Hills Play the video (06/17/07) DIX HILLS - A man died Sunday in a fiery crash that left wreckage and body parts scattered across the LIE at exits 51 and 52, according to officials. Chopper 12 was over the scene of the eastbound accident, which occurred about 9 a.m. between Deer Park Avenue and Commack Road. Responders sifted through the rubble of the burnt out sports car, using thermal imaging to recover the driver's remains. Authorities later identified the driver as 64-year-old Neil Battinelli of Oyster Bay. Battinelli was a father of three girls. Police say Battinelli was driving in excess of 120 mph. Investigators are looking into the possibility of mechanical problems with the car. Hundreds of vehicles were stuck in traffic for hours on the four-lane highway. Officials reopened all lanes by late afternoon.
Kieran a person can do 10 mph and die, if its time to go then you go, no matter what speed you going.
wow....this seriously puts things in perspective and makes you think before doing something reckless on the road. heh, can't wait for Shivam to chime in on this...
True, but if he had been going say 75 MPH, he probably would still be alive. Unless you believe in the set destiny stuff. I guess you could argue either way...
Yes, a person can also get struck by lightening even if he isn't holding metal poles up to the sky during a thunderstorm. That doesn't mean the latter action doesn't increase the possibility of its happening. Unfortunately, judging from the way you drive, you'll probably take someone with you.
Looks like it was in fact the 355 that crashed: http://news12.cv.net/video/AL0617WT.wmv Sad to hear, especially on Father's Day.
They crash test cars at 30 MPH not 75. So even if he was doing 75 MPH he would still be seriously if not permanently injured.
