I was at the concorso and I saw Lamarossa! (the car, not him). It was parked a couple of blocks away from the Ferraris. as for the silver 308, I saw it getting driven (after the accident) over to the concorso area. looked like the father was doing the driving this time. after he parked it, a bunch of cops swarmed the area around the car. I guess they needed more info. otherwise, I saw some damage to the left rear wheel, almost like a small hole punched into the rim. maybe some small scrapes on the bottom of the body, couldn't tell. probably best to put it on a lift and check it out. more info on this in the New England section.
Very interesting video. Note how he kept the wheel cranked into the first skid too hard and long and caused the tail to swing back but instead of catching it with opposite lock on and off he kept the wheel the now wrong way which spun him. Everyone should practice this recovery. In a mid engined car you have to catch it quick and not over react or you'll move back and over.
A shame...the last place I'd want to put a 308 into a ditch would be a parade with an Enzo, an F50 etc. right behind me. That's like falling off your tricycle leading the Tour de France.... Very scary to watch spectators scrambling, in light of the drag racing disaster in TN.......
The first skid, after the turn, was showing off......or very poor throttle modulation..... They probably wanted Field Sobriety Tests, at the show...... Surprised he MADE it to the show, given this incident......they lock you down to think about it, down here....
In fairness to the driver though, I have had a 308GTB throttle stick WFO once in a cloverleaf.......if I had not killed the ignition, it would have pulled me right into the oncoming merging traffic....!!!!!
thats a priceless comment hehe I think that 308 is modded, I don't worry about that happening in my Mondial ( same engine) I was expecting Lamarossa to be mentioned here too hehe
I wonder if the throttle was to blame in the tragic accident in Long Island (328 GTB on the LIE) on Father's Day? Any other 308/328 owners experience this issue?
Glad to see that nobody was hurt in that one. That guy must feel dumb after realizing that a video of his little stunt is now floating all over the internet.
very true, you got to let go of the wheel and let it come back by itself, by the looks of the video he was trying to drift around the turn, first time it happened to me i started fishtailing until i got the hang of it.
i love how even pictures jason takes of cars crashing look like they could be in a magazine, or just flat out hung up on your wall as some fancy artsy pictures
Anyone else think that the yellow 355 Spyder somehow got the 308 kid to goose it? It sounds like someone is flooring it in the vid before the 308 even begins to make the turn. Those drives/parades are fun, but it just takes one person to get spirited and bad stuff can happen to anyone very quickly. It's ok to rev it and drive in 2nd, but to get actual wheelspin in a turn and lose control is baffling to my mind. I do not doubt that the 308 is modded, are 308s even capable of that display in stock form>? hehe
Would not be surprised if the tires are older than the kid driving it. That cant help....still not defending the kid, thankfully at least my teenaged mishaps will not haunt me on the web!
Hehe,,, that 308 has quite some mileage on it so I doubt it runs on original TRX tires. That era car had 14" size rims , very thin 205s and 220s My fronts are original from 1982, very scary to think about. I will upgrade to 16" non metric as soon as I find wheels closer than EUROPE! Wtf
So what did his dad say after this? I could only imagine the horrific shame he must have felt for lending his son the keys! faz
There could be a long list of charges for this inept driver!! Wreckless driving, Public endangerment, failure to maintain control of vehicle, destruction of public property, driving too fast for conditions, etc...
i might have a home depot ferrari but i can drive mine well how the hell did he get to drive in the parade hes def not next year i dont care if he brough an F 40
