    The pope himself is not infallible. His statements are infallible only in certain instances when he speaks "ex cathedra".

    Materialism is a tricky word to define. Owning a car isn't wrong. The car 'owning you', so to speak, is.

    Having been raised "South'n Bap-tist" (Now recovered, thankyou very much. Just earned my Conscious and Sentient 20-year pin.), if it makes you smile, makes you want to smile, or even makes you think of smiling, it's a sin.

    If anything material, especially if it has any worth, triggers any of the above feelings, it should be surrendered to the church, since the unquestionable holiness of an organised cult, er, religion, is for the grace of.......blah blah blah....
    .........So obviously evidenced by the miniscule amount of assets controlled and/or owned by the vatican and others.

    I'm fine with it being a sin, according to someone whose blessing and approval I no longer care about.
