    Just wondering out loud here.

Was at a car show recently, and was admiring an old Triumph TR6 with redline tires and wire wheels. Looked quite sharp, matching the red exterior.

Since most Ferraris also seem to be red, just wondering how a set of red line tires would look, mounted on our familiar 5-star OEM wheels?

    Anyone ever seen this?

Maybe someone who is clever with PhotoShop could take a side profile shot of a red 308 and fiddle with it so to show how this idea might look?

    Cheers - DM

I was under the impression that redlines for TR6's were a similar situation to TRX tires on the Ferraris. They're old technology, poor tires, and expensive to obtain, but people still put them on the TR6's because it's the OEM tire.

They're concours tires for Triumph. I wouldn't stick them on a Ferrari.

I keep Firestone repo gold lines on one of my corvettes (1966). The red and goldlines, IMO were a very period speific look and seem out of place on modern machines.

    Just a worthlees opinion.

I'm with Meister. I keep repo redlines on my 67 Corvette. It's a mid 60's to very early 70's look. IMHO.

I put mine on only for concours showing. The rest of the time I run a set of minilites and pirellis.

The bad news for those who still "need" redlines is it was announced just 2 weeks ago that they will no longer be made.

Still seeking someone clever with PhotoShop (or similar) who can do a simulation of this look of a red line tire on a conventional 5-star OEM rim!

Yes, it's a period look, that's for sure, but keeping in mind the age of the 308 series, maybe it's not too far out to lunch.

I think it'd look terrible. On the other hand, put on some modern size wheels and PZero Rossas with the red "PZero" on the side and it'd be a nice, subtle bit of coordination you could add.
