No, I think most people realize F1 and NASCAR are almost completely different. Yes, both cars have four wheels, but that's about it. If a NASCAR driver went to a mid-pack F1 team, we'd see a similar performance if not worse.

Anywho, I think the JPM story is dying down a bit at least in the F1 world. Too much stuff is going on with Lewis Hamilton.

It's not easy explaining to an ignorant NASCAR fan that think higher top speed = better.

I can't figure out why JPM wouldn't hold out for a top team before he made the switch over to NASCAR. To people that don't understand the difference the team and car make, it just makes him and F1 look overrated to NASCAR fans.

Agreed about Hamilton taking over all F1 headlines. :)

Not when JPM qualifies 32nd on a road course. Hell, Boris Said qualified 4th. Lets get Boris to F1.

He beat Boris Said at the Busch road course earlier this season and out-qualified him there as well. They didn't show the rest of qualifying so I didn't get a chance to see his performance, but going from 4th fastest in practice to 32nd means something happened that shouldn't have.

Apparently no mechanical issues, maybe the track just got slippery. From NASCAR.com:

    >>He thought the lap was a good one, maybe within a few tenths of a second of the pole. Then Juan Montoya zoomed across the start/finish line at Infineon Raceway, and learned he was nowhere close.<<

Yes, I'm sure something happened, but I bet it was driver error.

Boris is running a limited schedule with a limited team and budget, Boris shows that when you turn right and brake, sometimes talent does mean something again. Boris did great at Mexico and Juan won by spining people out of the way.

Juan would get his ass kicked by 40 year old Spec Miata racers, but luckily talent in NASCAR isn't much more than what you find at the local track so Juan is up there middle of field. Its mostly about money and namesake, not talent.

Lol, I wonder if he had any particular 40 year old miata spec racer in mind. ;) I guess it didn't take any talent at all to challenge for the F1 world title in 03 either

Rob you are out of your mind. Reading this post reminded me of those ESPN commercials where some individual is talking out of his a$$.

Yeah, but back in 12th or something for Happy Hour.

-Peter (no opinion either way, although highly entertained by Rob's "Miata driver" comment, more truth there than not...)

Jealous of Juan? I have more against people disillusioned that Juan is a God, not Juan himself. Good for a Spanish speaking driver in NASCAR, good for F1 driver in NASCAR, doing both groups a disservice.

I've got talent and no money, even if I had money I would have never raced NASCAR. Pro racing is more about money than talent at all levels, my statement about Spec Miata is true, those guys at the front have talent, but because of money, late start, and not racing karts at 8 years old they only race for trophies. Too many drivers out there to support in contrast with someone with a lack of talent and class.

Juan is up against the rev limiter for 2 seconds? What an idiot.

    can't get by Dale Jr.
The race is fun to watch, but seeing these boats on a road course, really demonstrates how much faster open wheel cars are on thru turns

He won't finish top 10 at end, he's got to pit. Boris is coming back through field as others pit and he might make end of race. it will be close.

only 2 laps short with green, wow, didn't realize he was even that close. Juan fans hope for yellow, which they give out like candy in NASCAR.
