I've been looking for a 308/328 off and for a few years now. I wasn't even supposed to be home last week, but wound up home (and looking at FChat for a little bit) for 1.5 days. Then saw RokLobster's '79 308 GTS for sale!

Always wanted a blue Ferrari, and always liked the carb cars. It was just tough to find that combination! And with a tan int. too!

I went and checked it out the same day I saw it on-line (last Thurs.) Pictures don't do it justice! She's not perfect, but everything is there and it's all original. High miles, but well maintained by the single owner that had it before Roklobster. Original owner had it for 27 years. Then when Roklobster had it, he took the time to revive her the right way. (Thanks, Richard!)

Now it's my turn to bring on a little TLC. I've already ordered the belts/tensioners etc. so that starts tomorrow... The engine looks pretty tight, too. No visible leaks anywhere around the front or sides. Bottom had a little bit of greasy/oily road grime, but no significant seepage/leaks. The only leak I could spot was on one of the accelerator pumps. (just a bit of seepage, nothing too serious...)

Which brings me to the carbs. That will be a fun project! They definitely need synced (and at least the one rebuilt. Might as well do all four). From what I've been able to research so far (mostly on this website) the support is there that this shouldn't be insurmountable. Right now, she's got a bit of a fast idle when warm (2000+); a little rough when cold but around 900-1000. I'm thinking throttle linkage (if it's not some obvious vacuum issue).

After that, probably new seats and door panels.

Believe it or not, the windows aren't that bad! A little electrical contact cleaner sprayed on the switches and voila! They work fine!

Of course there will be the inevitable upgrade to Birdman's fuse box...!

She looks great in the garage! Plus my wife hates it! So it's perfect!

    +1, I'm a fan of azurro on 308s - it's a very flattering color.

On this year's Xmas list, you might want to ask the jolly old elf (or St. Daniel of Ricambi...) for a new coolant expansion tank. They're powdercoated steel, but they don't last forever and yours looks very original (I did mine a couple months back.)

Not sure, thinking it's Blu Azzurro? Is the Azzurro lighter than the Blue Medio?
I know the Blu Sera is the darkest of the Blue's then Blu Chiaro.

Was there only 4 shades of Blue?

From lightest to darkest - Blu Azzurro, Blu Medio, Blu Chiaro then Blu Sera.
    Sound right?

Congrats on the purchase ... she looks terrific.

If you do decide to rebuild your carbs, and if you want some pointers towards suppliers, let me know. I recently went through a complete overhaul of mine -- in total, I went to 4 vendors in order to get all of the parts that I needed.

Also refer to Birdman's excellent articles ... they are brilliant:

Thanks, I would appreciate any gouge for carb rebuild!

I already reference the above articles (thanks Birdman). It turns out that my problem wasn't so much sync as it was incorrect setting of the fast idle device and carb idle screws. Just ordered a synchrometer from WeberPartsDirect. After it gets here I should be able to dial them in just right via Birdman's article.

As to the paint: it is Azzurro.
