ok, in deep poo as car has rear TRX tyres showing canvas on the inside of the tyres due to heavy camber setting need either 2 Michelins 220-55VR390 (new or used) at reasonable price [not the $615 price I've been quoted !!!!] or a set of wheels from a 328 pre-88 (concave, don't like the 89 wheels convex look) I know about the Superformance wheels and they are most likely the go but thought I'd try here first as a lot of you guys change wheels a lot and may have the original set of 328 wheels in the garage doing nothing the problem with new Michelins is there is a 3 month wait !!! on top of the huge price for a tyre that is mediocre in comparison to today's tyres but the previous owner had a beautiful job done on the QV's metric wheels and it seems a shame to leave them in the garage but I need a better tyre for the track and TRXs are rubbish in comparison Please PM me if anyone has the 16" 328 pre '88 wheels they want to sell Thanks John (I'm in Australia btw )
Hey mate, here's a place that has new and used 328 wheels. http://www.italiancarparts.com/parts/308.html#wheels
The repros are aluminum and seem to be a lot heavier. Do you guys think the heavier rims make that big of a difference in performance? Or is it too small of a difference to notice on a car?
I don't think u'll ever notice a difference unless u track the car. As an investment the QV magnesium ones will appreciate in value while the aluminum ones will always be just parts. I bought the aluminum ones but will buy the QVs at some point or maybe those 17 in Crommadoras if they ever make production. Bill
I have repros and while I wish they were Ferrari magnesiums, they're fine. It solves the metric tire problem and looks better. I will save the original metrics.
