Just got one , my next door neighbor stood in line and I traded a Coors Light and $620 for it. I just can't seem to open it. Reminds me of my honeymoon, once it is open you can't take it back. I think I will go to bed and consider donating it to someone that can actually use it.

$620 and TWO Coors lights, I would feel as though I doubled my money. My twelve year old told me all of his friends are getting them today, and that he is the only kid in the neighborhood without one. I think I tried that one for a dirtbike when i was his age. Didn't work for me, doesn't look for him. But a beer does sound good about now.

I think I am the only one who thinks this thing is going to be a huge flop.

I agree with you on that, and I think it is stupid to wait in line for a phone.
What is really sad is that these things are already on Ebay selling for over double retail, and people will actually pay that.

I don't think it will be a flop. The at&t store I went to was sold out right after I baught mine. And all other stores were sold out by 8PM. There was few of the iPhone left in the Apple store but that didn't last too long either. I am just glad I got mine. :)

Oh, and it is awesome so far.

I just got one. The store I was at definitely sold out after I left.

It is freaking amazing. The coolest, most intuitive, most usable piece of consumer electronics I have ever seen. It is worthy of the hype, and then some. Apple is going to make a fortune, and their competitors are just screwed.

If you are still a doubter, get your hands on one and play with it for a bit.

I just finished playing with it for the last hour or so...

This thing is AMAZING! I had Blackjack, Treo, Nokia, etc and NOTHING even comes close to iPhone. They have another catagory buster in their hands. Just go down to the local Apple store and play with it for a bit, you will be amazed.

The phone is awesome. I was lucky enough to score 2 of them today and I cannot stop playing with it. I also have had just about every phone and absolutely nothing is this cool. I seriously believe they have set the benchmark for phones to come. I thing we'll be seeing TONS of iphone type devices springing up in the next few months.

I think its funny that the Apple Stores are selling them without an AT&T contract, people with low credit scores will have a tough time trying to get them activated unless they go for the prepay plan but will cost a hell of a more in the long run. I've seen a couple AT&T deposits going for $1500+ just for a two year contract with a Razr V3m, insane.

This thing definitely won't flop in my opinion. I get excited about very few things, and I just couldn't stop grinning once I played with my iPhone. This is hands-down the best phone I have ever seen. The features, the screen, the graphics, OH MY! I had my doubts, and I was ready for this thing to be a major let down, but it didn't disappoint me. I've been glued to my Crackberry for the last two years, and compared to the iPhone, the BB looks like a pile of crap, with functionality to match.

Yes, there are a few minor kinks, but the good outweighs the bad 100x. Once Apple gets full corporate exchange functionality, then this will be the best thing since sliced bread. Jobs said they are currently testing that, so I am hopeful that it is only a software update away.

Oh, and as for the lack of 3G support - my bandwidth meter clocked the iPhone at 138Kbps, and I am currently in a small town with very little AT&T service. The internet is infinitely more usable than my Blackberry on Verizon's EVDO network.

In short, this thing is awesome. It was well worth the $634.xx, and would be worth it WITHOUT the iPod features. YMMV of course, but I use e-mail and the web CONSTANTLY when I am not tethered to my laptop, so this thing is a gift from the heavens.

Got mine yesterday. Such an amazing device. My only complain is they seemed to remove the "manually manage music" in itunes. Which makes moving media over to the iphone more of a pain.

There are several things I believe will relegate this thing to a toy and not a serious phone. I just don't see it working in a corporate environment very well. You would never get me to lose my Blackberry for this phone, especially when lacking actual keys and buttons. It looks like it's fragile, at least the screen looks that way. If it's anything like my iPod, it'll be scratched all to hell in no time. Can't exactly put a cover on this thing because the screen is touch sensitive. The other part is AT&T. Good god what were they thinking? You ever known a guy at the office who did the worst work but got promoted ahead of everyone else? That's what happened here with Apple choosing AT&T as a provider. Another is the capacity for music. 8 gigs? LOL. Is that some kind of a joke?

I'd at least wait til a 2nd or 3rd gen of this device before buying.

I think Nokia, Moto and Samsung will eventually siphon off whatever innovation Apple integrated into this phone. They're in a big market with some big players with a lot of money.

I know what you mean. I was skeptical at first, but after having ghe phone for a day, i am typing faster than i do on my blackberry. It's true that corp support isnt as good, but i think that will change. I was also worried about the fragility, but this thing feels very solid. I dont listen to music much, so the lack of space is a non issue; my 60gb ipod is only 4gb full. This device is pretty solid for a first gen device.

Your looking at this all wrong. What "other" phones out there even comes close to 8gig? None. And you CAN put the covers on the iPhone. I have it on mine and it works great. The build of this phone is 100X solid than any other phones I had. And also keep in mind that unlike other phones, iPhone will get an "update" just like a computer. So you will always have the newest operating software.

This is a phone first, and ipod, media center, etc, later. And as of now, there is no other "phone" that even comes close to what iphone can do... Well, I take that back. There is other phones that does the same functions, but user interface is way behind of iPhone. In short, iPhone > Other Phones.

Well, I'm in the gym a lot and I take my iPod with me all the time. It sits on the elliptical machine while I work out, but it ends up being thrown in a gym bag along with keys sunglasses, etc. NOT a good environment for a phone, especially one with an all plastic screen like that. My iPod I can control with a rubber sleeve covering all the exposed places...can you even do that with an iPhone? I'm looking at my BB right now - it's sitting face down on my granite counter top. It's a tank.

Anyway, this thing would be positively sick with VCast or Slingbox capability. But for that you'd need a fast network which the iPhone is not currently a part of. This is why I cannot understand why they went with AT&T. I'm mystified by that one.

Most of the time, it's alot cheaper to buy pre paid cellphones over seas. But verizon has over seas plans. Very costly but it lets any of their phones work. Doesn't matter, if it's Iphone or a free flip - open phone.

I'm going to assume you have no idea what the iPhone is or how expensive the iPod still is after many years of it's existence.

The price won't drop, and if it does drop from the 500$ (for the 4gb) it'll be so insignificant that the time you waited for it will outweigh the money saved.

Besides, AT&T has a contract with the iPhone for 5 years, until 2011.
