In my opinion, Ferrari doesnt need a more fuel efficient car. Honda and Toyota make cars for that purpose. Ferrari is a performance car, its not a green mobile.
too bad that it probably wont be street legal in the us (wont meet crash standards and all the bat sh*t crazy saftey regs) and in 2030 or some thign like that all us manufacturers have to average 35 mpg in their model range... bye bye usa ferrar
The future for Ferrari is racetrack vehicles only similar to what's being done with the FXX project right now. As fuel gets less available and more expensive only the very rich will get access to high performances vehicles. It's in this milieu of racing that Ferrari will need to find a way to be above anyone else and stay financially viable.
You must be kidding. FXX is a development platform. It will never have any mass appeal for a similar type of program. Challenge cars maybe. They are more accessible and usable. Roman Abramovich has an FXX. He only uses it when he rents the entire track for himself for a day. How much fun can that be? I am fast, I know I am fast, nobody is catching me... Track days are big fun because you are with your friends. Ferrari will never be a track day car producer (e.g. Lotus) because the cars are simply too expensive to buy, operate and crash
I sure hope ferrari doesn't head this route. The lotus elise performs great considering its engine, but it is still a weak car (as far as exotics are concerned). I would take an enzo hands down before taking a lighter weight/faster v-8 version.
