You're wrong again. He said "The kids also had a hidden camera. Why?" There have been NO REPORTS in any of the articles I have read about a hidden camera. He just guessed that based on the "funny looking footage" just like you did. And he made it look like the kids were just there to set people up. I said I know what kind of camera was being used as far as HIDDEN or NON-HIDDEN. I have shot plenty of footage using a fisheye adapter. I think I know what it looks like by now. If you owned a Ferrari 355 for years and showed pictures of the interior, I would not debate with you about if that's actaully a 355 or not. Well, that's what you're debating with me. I know what footage from a cheap camera and a fisheye adapter looks like. And that's it. NOT FACT. She had a skateboard in her right hand the whole time. So when did she "jump" him? If she did, she never dropped her board to do it. FACT: There's at least one other cop there. They all walk right past him when Williams gets done chasing that kid. So if she jumped Willaims, the other cop did not help Williams at all. so I'm going to have to call BS on the "jumping" story. The other kid got put in a headlock when he started cussing. And Williams obviously does not like swear words. So that kid got a headlock too. Again, the other cop is right there and does nothing. Wonder why? First of all, I would not be chasing around a pack of kids at the same time like an idiot. I got better things to do (much like the other cop(s) on scene). Look at her size, and look at fat boy Williams. If Williams is such a wimp that he can't grab her arm, and physically sit her in a chair, he does not need to be a cop. He needs to be a dancer. The only way he can control a 13 year old girl is to put her in a headlock? He obviously has no kids (thank god) and pray he never has any, becuase she is going to kick his ass all day every day till she's about 17. She could not of been resisting too hard. She still did not drop her skateboard. Even when in a headlock. Again, the other cop(s) on scene do nothing. There's no proof the girl jumped him. That's what one article on the internet from a news agency says. Do you believe everything you read on the internet? I don't believe 9/10's of what the news says. Let alone some internet news article with an 3rd party account. Don't you think if she jumped him that the other cop would do something? That fact that shes still standing around with her skateboard in her hand tells me otherwise. Notice how the other cop(s) are just standing around not doing anything really. I think there's good reason for it. And they knew what it was. A cop going crazy putting kids in a chokeholds and headlocks while other kids are video taping it is not good for your job security.
You're seeing one video on the internet posted and filmed by skateboarders. Do you believe only what you see? Unless he's (cameraman) simply switching to the fisheye lense (I guess it just swivels around the lense?) then there's a timelapse around the 1 minute and 57-58 second mark that could've showed the girl making a quick lunge? If you notice the bicycle cop he also has someone by the neck, though not as aggresively so he is most certainly doing something. http://www.wmcstations.com/Global/story.asp?S=6731342
Fair enough. I could have something the size of a skateboard in one hand and still jump somebody. Besides you are still going by what is on the video. The witness said the jump occured off camara. The other officer in question looks as if he had just arrived on the scene. Note he hadn't even taken his bcycle helmet off. There is a very good possibility he wasn't there when she jumped him. I believe the othe cop did join in there was a lot of footage where something else was going on once the camara was on the ground. Absolutely incorrect the other officer did assist in the arrest. Look at the video again sport. They took her a** to jail along with the oher punks. take a look at the source Einstein it was the local tv news station in Arkansas. You are a tool you would rather believe a video edited by those punks to make them look like the victims rather than an unbiased journelist. Again we don't have enough info on when the other officer arrived. So right now the Eye witnesses story about her jumping the officer is what I and any reasonable person would believe until there is evidence to the contrary. Your other officer theory at this time does not hold water we do not know when he arrived on the scene. Again I see the other officer briefly in the video I wold be willing to lay odds he did help detain the others maybe not in excess like this guy but tehey go cuffed and booked. As a matter of fact toward the end of the video they had 2 cuffed where do yuo suppose the 2nd set of cuffs came from? went back and watched the video again the other officer did grab the kid (by the neck) that was cussing the officer after he grabbed the girl he then assisted in cuffing him after he was on the ground. He wasn't just "standing around" my friend. Go back and watch the second officer comes in view around 2:07 into the video till 2:30. Don't look like you are to observant.
I'm done debating. Williams is in big trouble. Even if he keeps his job, he's likely to find himself getting sued in civil court and will have to spend his life savings defending himself. It happens to cops all day every day. Good riddance. Meanwhile these kids will probably walk away with a little house arrest and some probation. Minors and late teen first offenders. They never get squat. Not to mention that since some are now doing house arrest, they will likely get "time served" by the time it comes to trial day. Meanwhile, Williams will be browsing the job classifieds. He can scratch off the job openings for school bus driver. I don't think he's fit for it. He could maybe get the job for school bus mechanic though.
The camera used to shoot this footage was a small camera, as evidenced by the poor resolution and warping on the edges. Throughtout the video, it is obvious that the person doing the filming is doing so in a way as to not be noticed. For a while, he/she is hiding somewhat behind one of the other kids. Then, when on the ground, he/she turns whatever it is the camera is concealed inside of so that it can continue to film the scene. These facts are not false, they are clear for everyone to see on the video. And you're right, I have absolutely NO idea what the garden variety group of skateboarding 13 year-olds are like. How dare I make assumptions. Sticking to facts would also mean that you should agree with my initial statement of learning a little more about what the background of this situation is. Living in a city, I know that cops can act with a heavy hand. But I also see how kids behave in groups. Fact. Sure, I'm initially biased towards the authority here. But you're being biased in the other direction.
I'm sure they are going to try and sue. I'm not so sure they are going to get a jury to buy that they were innocent victims. I sure as H*** don't. The punks will walk away with nothing more than a slap on the wrist. They were the ones that caused this to esculate. Had they behaved and followed his orders to begin with the worst that probably would have happened was they would have got cited. Your right I through working inside today. Time to go out and enjoy the rest of the day. Maybe take the Ferrari for a drive.
Totally agree. People live in fear of the police because of this type of thing and it is not right. Skateboarders should not be arrested if they are not posing a threat to anyone. Civil disobedience I think it is called. Were the black kids whosat at the white only counter wrong? I don't think so, but they got tossed around by the police back then. This is supposed to be a free country, and while I don't get the whole skateboarders wearing ski hats in south florida they should not be singled out and harassed everwhere they go. Leave someone no place to go, and they will be forced to break the law somewhere. BT
Whew, I'll wade in here...glad Joe Jamail jus' kicked in $1.5M for the Downtown PUSH Park, in memory of his wife Lee Jamail, RIP. It's a fisheye lens commonly used in skate photography for effect. If Legal Notices of Property Owners or City Municipalities are posted skateboards are against the law, pretty common at Malls Schools, and Public Facilities looking to avoid lasting and expensive damage to stair railings, stone veneers, etc. My son has specific instructions on proper behaviour and these skaters were acting like criminals, failure to obey commands, disregard of a Police Officer, and IF they attempted to intervene in the first Take Down, very serious charges indeed. They do routinely carry VERY expensive cameras as it's part of the sport. Anyway I'll say this guys' temper got the better of him and agree he may not be cut out for Police work, but those of you focusing on the 'choking' and holds used are missing the point. The skaters in this case are completely in the wrong, National Event Day or not.........Downtown sidewalks, shopping district etc., etc....typical teenaged "Bad Idea" Hope it all works out.......there's bigger fish to fry.
i *just* saw this thread, and i am trying to buy a car from Hot Springs long distance. i dont think i want to got there to visit.
Are you riding a SKATEBOARD into town, reaper??? Jus' kick flip at the City Limits, and walk the rest of the way in........
Done , lets see the punishment for the skaters. The Hot Springs Police Department Internal Affairs Board found the use of force was within the police department's policy on non-deadly force and recommended "no changes to this policy." The decision was released Monday. Officer Joey Williams stopped a group of skateboarders June 21 on a downtown city sidewalk. Skateboarding is banned in the area. The video shows Williams apparently choking one of the skateboarders after forcing him to the ground, then later chasing and wrestling two others while holding them in a headlock. "This was a minimal force issue," Police Chief Bobby Southard told The Sentinel-Record. "He didn't resort to anything above hand control techniques and handcuffing." Southard said Williams, who had been put on administrative leave, will return to bike patrol downtown Thursday. Six skateboarders - two adults and four juveniles - have court dates pending.
http://www.arktimes.com/blogs/arkansasblog/hotspringsreport.pdf I know this makes me look like an a** but considering the S*** I took over the last few days because of my view on this I am going to post this anyway. Folks this is why a Lynch Mob Mentality is not a good idea. There was more “as it is coming to light now” more to this story than what was in this video that was obviously edited by the skateboarders to make them look like the victims. What do you gentlemen think? I like to think letting all the cards fall and get all the facts before I hang a guy is the right way to go. Do you think that is the wrong way to handle a situation. Do I still “Need Help”
I dont see why anyone would want to be a cop. Lose your temper once and thats it, career down the toilet. Unappreciated and resented. Let em skateboard all they want where they want.
This whole thing is stupid. I didn't read all of the threads, but what do you think would happen if you were driving down the street when all of these kids were doing this and one of them fell off of their board right in front of your car and you ran over them...all while police are standing idle and not giving a crap about enforcing the CITY ORDINANCE. All hell would break loose and people would not understand why the cops were not doing their job. Clearly the kids ran when they were told to stop and then they had to suffer the consequences. I have seen NUMEROUS people go up to cops who are arresting people outside of a bar get arrested themselves after bothering the cop with statements and questions like: Onlooker: Heyyyyy, why are you arresting my friends!? They didn't do anything!!!!! Cop: Please stand back or you will be put under arrest. Onlooker: No! This is a gross injustice, how DARE you do this?!! Cop: I said for you to stand back. Onlooker: I just can't believe this! Blah blah blah blah blah Cop: You are under arrest. Me*: Hahaha, he told that guy so many times! Cop: You, joker over there. Get out of here or this will be you. Me: Yes sir(as I make my exit). *and the fact is that I wouldn't even be that stupid/disrespectful as to interject a comment. These kids blatantly violated the ordinance, ran when confronted, some interfered with the cop, and others even came in physical contact with the cop. Sorry, but these kids got everything that was coming to them. If anything it is a valuable life lesson not to mess with the law unless you are prepared to face the consequences. All these kids did was whine about it and basically call for internet "mommy."
Flithy f8cking police. They are everywhere and unforcanitly will continue to get away with this sort of behavior.
Funny they are "filthy" ******* cops unitl you need one then all of a sudden they turn into your best friend.
