    Hi All,

We all know that street racing is stupid and dangerous but this weekend I get to do it legally. I'm competing in the Castrol Canadian Touring Car Championship this weekend as a support event for the Grand Prix of Toronto (still the Molson Indy to me). If you are out at the Indy this weekend please feel free to come by our paddock in the Direct Energy Centre and say hello. Also be sure to check out our race. We'll have 50 cars out and more action than any other race all weekend.

    See you at the track.

I'll make sure to drop by and snap some pics. I will be there Friday for the practice sessions and what not so I will look for the flying civic. It looks like you will be up against a 240 friend of mine named Sasha.

Thanks for the well wishes guys. To answer the questions:

    - We should have umbrella girls but they will all be taken

    - Lucas I'll be around on Sunday and our race is after the Indy at around 4pm. Come by the trailer and say hi. We are parked in the Direct Energy Center.

    - Lastly, my car still carries a tire mark from Sasha from the last race. He is in a different class than me and his car is awesome to watch

I'm quite interested in this... What's under the hood? I'm assuming a B16 or GSR? What kind of coilovers are you running?

The car is an EG Civic hatchback, gutted with a full roll cage. Weight with driver is about 2300lbs (we need to add ballast to get to this weight). Under the hood is a JDM B18C (Japanese Type R motor) with some software tuning and a few bolt on goodies. Transmission is also a JDM Type R 98+ LSD box and we are running Tein Coilovers. The tires are mandated as Toyo RA1's shaved for the dry and full depth for the rain.

BTW the trophy next to the car is from the Sundowner 3 hour Enduro at Mosport earlier this year which we won by 2 full laps over second place.

Well the headgasket was changed but the engine was still down on compression. My mechanic stayed up all night and got a new motor in by 5am. He was at the track from Oshawa by 6am with NO sleep. I picked up a new software program for it in the morning. The engine was brand new and I mean EVERYTHING new so we had to break it in in qualifying with hopes of making a flying lap late in the session. Those hopes were dashed when a red flag ended our time early so I was left starting dead last in 50th place. In addition to this the engine was flat around 6,000rpm. It was off to Oshawa to pick up some parts and our engine tuning guru Nick (from Teknotik) dropped everything and came to do a custom tune for us at the track. Totally unproven we started the race in last place. At the end of the race we were 16th overall and second in class. There were no pileups so this was a true effort where we passed over 30 cars in the race. Tomorrow we start with our finishing positions from today so it looks to be a good shot at the classvictory. Wish me luck :)

    Hi All,

First of all thanks for the dedicated thread. All of the well wishes are very much appreciated. Now for a quick race re-cap.

We were lucky with the weather and got the only two fully dry sessions on Sunday of anyone. On Sunday morning in the warm-up I knew that the race would be a dogfight to the end so I spent the whole session driving off line and experimenting grip on different parts of the track for the race. At the same time I was careful not to go too fast so the practice times would show me weaker than I was. Let the games begin:)

Come race time it looked like rain but ended up dry. The start was crazy and there was a 4-5 car pile up on the second turn. I got rear ended then accelerated into the car in front of me crushing the nose of the car. I saw a small gap and just rammed the car into gear and literally scraped my way though the spot. Still in the lead I saw the second place car attack so I pushed like mad until the full course yellow came out to stay ahead. Once the track went green it was a straight fight for the lead and a slower car turned out to be the position piece. This guy would turn into you if you got near him and I was being attacked like crazy from behind. Eventually I chose my spot, and got a run on him. Knowing he was going to turn in on me I already had my wheels turned and literally shoved him out of the way to pass. From there it was a series of hot laps (faster than the pole position lap) to build a small gap to second. With one lap to go second had an engine problem and I was able to cruise to the win.

After the race we opened the hood and found the radiator pinned and about 3mm from being punctured. Lucky for us it held and we won the biggest race of our season. Attached are some pics of the car and podium celebrations.
