I sprayed on 2 coats lightly 1hr apart . It worked well . I used the 'no fumes 'oven cleaner to remove it . I stripped the door handles , rubbed off the remaining goo , then used a Roloc cleaning disc for good measure to ensure a smooth surface . The dipping goo I found was too thick so it was discarded . Although when initially sprayed it looks kinda bubbly on the surface , after 15minutes it smooths out as it cures . I purchased this at home depot for less than 10 dollars . It dries hard as plastic .

Can you explain how you used the oven cleaner and what the surface looked like before you painted it?

as far as your original question goes, I think the only way to fix it is to get someone to re do the leather on the doors. My car has the same problem, I hope to get it fixed over the winter

Either have an upholstery shop redo them, or buy the carbon fiber replacement panels for $489340593.99 each.

Does not exist here in sweden. What exactly is it?

What does it do? Clean the old plastic or put a new surface on?

If it is a new surface, what does it consist of?

I put the Easy off no fumes cleaner on a rag & rubbed for 10-20 minutes . The goo in the parts will rub right off . Then a few coats of Spray on PlastiDip & you are good to go . I found a guy to do the door panels for me & brought them to him today . He says they will be done Wednesday . Recovered in leather .

    Thanks for this post.

Hope you didn't use it on any pieces that you touch - door handles, ashtray, etc...Stuff doesn't last well on those pieces...

Nope, except for the ashtray. I was wondering about that, how it would hold up to wear. Seems fine for the console though. The handles are in good shape at the moment. If they need painting at some point we'll see.
