been in 4, I think, maybe 5. OOPS, forgot to include as a passenger. Make that 7 Now I gotta count 'em. DAMN, who'd a thought this would be a hard question. 1. Hit garage with mom's station wagon. (age 16) 2. Hit woman driving a Olds Vista Cruiser in an intersection in my z28 (maybe 23) 3. Was rear ended at a stop light in a Chevy Vega GT (can't remember when.) He was driving a pickup truck. 4. Head on collision in a mustang GT350 (yes, a real one) as a passenger in about 1975. While on the way to get the car title straightened out. 5. Hit from behind in a car wash by a Jeep driven by the attendant who didn't know the brake from the gas. $9K worth of damage to my car, what a mess that was. 6. Run off the road and up an embankment on my Honda CX500. (Does that count?) 7. Hit concrete abutment with an Acura Coupe when a guy pulled his truck/trailer out in front of me. 8. Detailer backed my Land Rover into my Ferrari. Been driving for 36 years, so that's not bad, is it? The first two were my fault, the rest were not. DM
4 accidents. 2 were while backing up in reverse. I crushed the rear quarter of a car hitting a telephone pole in a parking lot. I never saw it - then I heard the noise. The other was backing over a fence in a pick-up truck. Didn't hurt the truck but the fence was a mess. I got rear-ended by an asian lady while I was in a rental car. She whacked me good when the traffic came to a sudden stop on a freeway while I was on a business trip. She must have hit me at over 20 mph. She got out and said it was all her fault. Her front-end was smashed but the back-end of my rental car looked mostly okay (who knows what kind of structural damage was done underneath). I said it was a rental car and looked "good enough" for when I turned it back in. I suggested she just pay for her own damage out of her pocket and forget about it. The look on her face was priceless. She agreed and we went our own way.
I have had a few spins and near misses, but I have only actually hit anything once. I love black ice. Here is the aftermath.10mph, and $8500 worth of damage to an Audi TT. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have been in 3 accidents, all minor with no injuries. 2 my fault, one nobodys fault. -First one was in my dads Saab 9-5. In this one a stop sign was missing and I tapped the side of a car that turned in front of me. The police determined that nobody was at fault. -The second one happened in my Mustang. In this one I was in town and a GMC Jimmy stopped short and I bumped in to it, causing very little damage to my car and none to the other. -The third accident was in my sisters new Jeep Wrangler. In this accident I bumped into another car on the way school.
2 for me. someone rear ended me once, very very minor damage, and a bike smashed into me once when he didn't stop at a t junction. both weren't my fault
Only one my fault - I tapped the car in front of me in stop-and-go rush hour, was only ~3mph auto trans idle speed. Hit once by a 17yr old who ran a stop sign. I was in an old Cadillac and he was in a Toyota Tercel - hit me in the front fender near the bumper - the heavy Caddy took it pretty good, felt like barely more than hitting a curb. Even better, instead of calling the police on the teen and making an insurance claim (we kept telling him, "you're rates are going to go through the roof...") we made the kid buy the Caddy off us for $1900, which was what we could have gotten for it on a good day. Passenger in one accident. Lent my car to a friend once and his kid backed it into a new Dodge truck sending my rates up 50%/yr.
Today I pulled over and parked for an appointment, 5 seconds later a cyclist ran in to me. Landed on the trunk and scratched the hell out of the bumper and trunk lid. That's number what... like a million for me?
my one and only wreck thus far, 70+MPH into a tree, yea it sucked, no injurys, 3 people in car 1 didnt even have seatbelt on Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have been involved in 6, but only three were my fault (that sounds like a lot but in the majors if you hit .500 you get 30 million a year and inducted into the Hall of Fame) 1. Just after getting my license took a turn too fast in my Mustang and lost control, hit the shoulder, over corrected and presented the driver side of the car to opposing traffic. Made contact with a driver comming the other way. (my fault, but I fought the ticket and the other driver did not show and was dismissed) 2. Stopped at a red light. Hit from behind by another driver who wasn't paying attention. 3. Trans-Am slid on ice into a car-port at an apartment that I had after college. (totally my fault, the car port did not jump out in front of me) 4. Turning my Acura TL into westbound traffic across 2 congested eastbound lanes and one center turn lane and made contact with a ditzy broad who was talking on a cell phone and was driving in the center turn lane to make a left at the light that is about a quarter mile away. No ticket issued, but I was deemed at fault, I argue that that B*tch should not have been driving in the center turn lane and definately should not have been on the damn phone. I'll count this as my fault as I never fought it in court, but I do think that I had a good case. 5. Rear ended in the same TL while stopped at a light in a snowstorm. 6. Rear ended in a Buick Raineer while stopped at a light in a rainstorm. This happened about 200 feet from the rear ending that I got in the Acura about 2 years earlier. As a matter of fact I stopped at the same parking lot to wait for the PD. My cars have been hit a total of 3 additional times in parking lots or on streets while parked. I am not counting these as I really wasn't there.
And yet people B|TCH about 5 mph bumpers. Someone once smacked in to me while I was stopped at a light in my '80 RX7. Their car looked a bit like yours (except the damage was all the way across the front). My RX7 just had some scuffing on the rubber pad of the rear bumper.
drunk driver hit me at a red light going about 25-30mph.. about $8k damage Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just 1 while I was driving. Hit someone at a stop light doing 45-50, playing with the radio eq settings I don't think the lady had brake lights because I always spotted them out of the corner of my eye. Been in a lot more as a passenger, once going over the edge while crossing Red Mountain Pass in Colorado, if you know where that is. We landed in the Idorado mine. F'n miracle any of us survived.
Just 2 weeks ago i was driving through a national park in sydney australia, aquaplaned through a corner at 80km/h and spun into a tree that i hit so hard the doors flung open, then slid about 40m (100ft or so) down a densely wooded hill. climbed out the windshield with a bruised finger; lucky day
When I was 16, I was on a road freshly oiled and it was raining and I slid off the road and went into a field. I didn't hit anything and started the car and drove out. I was at a stop sign and got rear ended by a truck full of crushed stone. He couldn't stop. That was 30 years ago. Since then I have been OK.
