I have a completely stock exhaust system. Recently noticed my exhaust had a rattle and a muted (no "bark" after 4k rpm), crappy sound...found a broken muffler clamp, and replaced it with a Hill Engineering one from Ricambi. Much better with the "bark" back, but still noticed some faint rattles (intermittent) at various rpms....mostly between 2k and 4k. After some investigation, I found the source; just after each catalytic converter, there is a pipe that has a metal heat shield wrapped around it...these were loose on both sides, and would actually slide a few millimeters forward and backard...making the annoying noise. Wasn't sure how to secure them, so I purchased a couple large Wurth stainless steel hose clamps, and wrapped one around the forward end of the shields, near the joint where it meets the catalytic converter. Did this on both sides, and tightened them up. No more movement or rattle that I could induce, and went for an hour drive. Wow! The music is back! :)
