Having now spent a few months with her...I thought I'd share a story that I have found out since investigating her history and a chance encounter while out for a drive.

Firstly, Aston owners tend to be fanatical about history and receipts etc, which is great for people like me, but the history file that accompanies this car is second to none, I have every single tax disc ever put on the car, I have every MoT cert accompanied by the original Test Report, every receipt for any kind of mechanical or cosmetic expense ever incurred, there is a copy of the V5 document for every owner, invoices, letters, article copies, shiiping docs, photos - You name it, it's here, an incredible read through the cars history. In 1996 under the ownership of another AMOC current member and owner, he arrived at the AMOC annual concour's and was asked at the gate by an official "Entrant or Visitor?" He replied, "Visitor" aand after a very short and persuasive argument by the 'Gate-man' decidied to enter. He left his car in the paddock disappeared for the day only to return and find that the car had not only come 1st in Class but had won the Owner's vote too.

The winner's badge now sit's very proudly on the Glovebox.

About 3 weeks ago, I was out for a weekly excercise drive, very quietly plodding along some Derbyshire back lane, and was met by a lovely Daytona - I duly nodded which was returned. I carried on a few more miles and needed fuel, (common occurence in V8 Aston's).
After paying, the same Daytona pulled up to refuel too, we got chatting as often petrol heads do - We eventually got around to marque differences and price, obviously the Daytona is worth more than the Vantage, although the Vantage is substantially rarer - Daytona won on speed & handling, Vantage won on practicality & comfort...Eventually subjectivity took over, but very interestingly we both managed to agree on 1 thing - We both would still have bought the Aston over the Daytona - which baffled me, Why would a current Daytona owner concede such an important marque point to the 'enemy'...

Answer's on a postcard please... or just post them here?

Reminds me of the Top Gear episode where Clarkson and Steve Coogan tested the Vanquish S against the 575. They both decided that the even though the Ferrari was the better car, they would both rather have the Aston.

wow, nice work, that is a gorgous car. Do all vantages have the hood riser? If not, what years? Its a nice touch. I almost bought a two tone example recently. Would love to hear and see more when you have time.

Just got back from AMOC Factory Day at Newport Pagnell, Last factory tour before it closes it's production doors forever in about 7 weeks time.

Saw the last Vanquish Ultimate Editions in work, as well as a fabulous turnout from the AMOC crowd, Took my Vantage out to stretch her legs, as you'll see she was in good company.

That must have been a great event to attend. Looks like you also got to see the new DBS - is it as beautiful in the metal as it is in Bond?

Oh Yes - It's absolutely stunning, even makes the Vanquish look a tad plain...

A few more of the DBS, it's the actual car used for filming the 'proper' shots of the car in Casino Royale - It has a Carbon Fibre body, very thinly sprayed -Like an F40 you can see the weave pattern through the paint!

Fab pics - thanks for sharing them. I love that car! I can't wait to see one in real life. Did anyone go to Canary Wharf Motorexpo? I couldn't make it this year, but wondered whether Aston would be showing it there.
