it really depends on your outlook --- if u wanna buy 4 investment, then u can either get low priced art of a known painter, or pick up unknown artist work (but u need an eye 4 it) and hope it will appreciate. & shld be prepared 2 hold it for abt 5 yrs on average. i've collected for over 30 yrs, but i find that my tastes hv changed slowly from indian artists to those from the region (as far as australia). there r a lot of artists who r making it big in their countries, but relatively unknown outside. some of them r of course already globally famous & their work is expensive! at the end of the day, u hv 2 live with it ... so u must like it, unless u plan 2 buy & store 4 future resale ... hpe this helps
No no no it's @ Geylang main rd. No expressos but a 70s looking office with typewriters & gals with an attitude

I'll definitely buy only what I like. An Indian friend told me to invest in Indian art as they are appreciating. Met an Australian art dealer who do shows here hawking their paintings for S$1Ks & some were acquired from Filipino artists. I like Vietnamese esp those who do French impressionist with vibrant colours but so many of them are doing the same since they were a French colony. The modern young Chinese artists are very interesting but I find them becoming very similar, copying styles, trying to sell the Cultural revolution era while some probably had a depressed childhood eg. The Scream. I visited a few galleries here & the problem is those that served me know little about art. They just said that is cute, nice, good for displaying etc etc. Oh this is a famous artist, limited edition, price? S$45K!! When I Q them about the artist's forte, media, how the sculpture was done etc they drew a blank. Hmmm. Anyway, I must seek your knowledge on this. We'll talk offline.
I can't believe it! I saw the black Superleggera about an hour ago at Jalan Jurong Kechil (Upp Bt Timah) at the traffic junction. It was turning to Bukit Timah. It was gorgeous!
Yo Bro, one of my friend is a local artist... she has a gallery in town, u might be interested.... she's doing some interesting concepts oil on canvas... recently she is commissioned to work on a magnificent pcs for an overseas buyer..
