    we have a 2-3 year old english cocker spaniel and all he does is knaw at his paws and lick his "danger" zone and he has blisters all over after that. this has caused him to get bald armpits, and bald underneath. my mom has done everything she could by getting every itching powder etc.. on earth and it still doesnt help. have you guys ever dealt with this problem?

    He had an allergy to wheat. We switched his food to a lamb and rice, it cleared up after a few weeks.

    He is a Spaniel and, at this time of year he may have "hot spots," a summer excema which plagues the breed. He could also have either demodectic or sarcoptic mange, in which case a trip to the Vet. is in order. Otherwise ,it could be a nervous disorder caused by a variey of things. In any case, a trip to the Vet. is in order.

    we took him to the vet and they gave us meds and told us to never call them again hahahah.
    but all jokes aside, he was abused as a very young puppy. we took him out of a home of 5 kids that had no idea how to treat a living thing correctly.

    1)we called several times and it was a recuring thing
    2)I think its funny to be turned away like that even though there are 400+ vets in my area.

    Is it an indoor dog, or does it go outside frequently?

    My old dog was actually allergic to certain types of grass, and would knaw on its paws forever... sometimes to the point of bleeding.

    my dog is a indoor dog but when we are home he hangs out on the driveway and deck. and plus we give it hypo-allergetic food.

    NO!!!!! Because then he'll ask us for help deciding on a car for his Dad, that his dad "asked" him for advice for. I don't think I can make it through another one of those completely assinine threads. Right now it's between a 612 or DB9 in the "car" section because his dad doesn't want anything that screams money like his dads' Bentleys. Yea, OKAY!

    You need to take your dog to a veterinary dermatologist...seriously. One of my Newfoundlands experienced something quite similar to what you're describing. He would chew/lick his feet and then a few days later he'd chew/lick a raw spot on his back hip. He had a bacterial infection that his body wasn't fighting off, so the dermatologist put him on antibiotics to get rid of the infection.
