Seriously Victor, I see a common thread here. Don't lie, talk about yourself, not your dad. If everything works out okay, you're going to have to stand up on your own someday anyway, why not start now. I noticed that often times people get frustrated with you when you offer expert advice on any number of subjects. I think you are 14, right? If no one has told you yet, let me be the first to remind you, you're 14. ALL of us thought that we knew everything when we were 14, and eventually we found out that we really didn't. The moderators here are some of the most active posters on the site. This is not really the case for many forums where modertors mostly moderate discussions and members post. This distinction creates a different, much more regulated community. The people who have been here longer and are well known get more latitude then you do. Accept this as fact or move on. Unlike many forums bulls#itters are outed quickly here. Don't BS. There is no secret section. Posting a picture of your ferrari with a qt of milk and loaf of bread on hood in your profile adds credibility.
take it from someone who was 14 only 8 years ago... here... you need to be HUMBLE. Like others have said, read more than you say. If there is a thread that you want to comment on, then great... respond, but don't get angry if you don't get taken seriously... to most people here, you definitely haven't earned that kind of respect yet. When you do comment, make absolutely sure that you make it clear that it is your OPINION, not fact. It is possible that you could be quite intelligent, so let us see that side of you. good luck with everything. I think this thread is a good start to you getting along with the people on this board, so keep it up.
vik, you're in a lucky position. i've grown up middle class, and am very humble about my upbringing. just be cool about it, you are the one on this board, not you're dad.
All of this advice & opinions......... Frankly I never had a problem with anything you said as long as it was true. I don't see why anyone should care what you write about yourself or your family. I never got the feeling you were braging. I just think you wrote from your perspective and some resent it. Though, over time, you'll learn that it's usually better to be a little more "low key" about things as you never know who you're dealing with. Good to have you back....

Hey Vic! As a guy your age i would say DONT BRAG!!! #1 rule Nobody really cares what your dad owns... Its cool hes got such and such car but that really doesnt matter. Enjoy the forum!! (again)
i couldnt help it becuase my dad turned to me for help (yes a 60 year old man turned to me for help.) and i had no knowledge of the cars.
The other forum I'm on / moderate -- the admins and moderators both are heavily active members. I'd say most of the Top posters on the forum are staff members....

So I guess somehow in my browsing of THE FCHAT over the past few years, I TOTALLY MISSED THIS ENTIRE EPISODE! I just spend the last ooohhhh...2 hours reading up on it. Incredible. I love the internet...and this is why. Just be humble kid...I started on this website when I was young, and I was a total dork too...I grew out of it. If anything this whole experience should help you to mature that much faster. Good luck in the future
