Very pretty, and also a very special Lusso since it was once owned by a former race driver. Please post more pictures when the restoration progresses. Thanks!
See my post under 250LM. This Lusso wasn't once owned by Benelli, was it? That's pretty much the color that I recall. That would be a "small world" story.
I'll have to confirm with my father but the car was once owned by a race car drive whether or not it was him I don't know. Although the car was very straight for the most part, there were a few issues with the lower rear panels behind the wheels and the jack posts where it looked as though work had been done. Steve however is an amazing metalworker, or artist for that matter, and only repairs the panels as they would have during that period. Everything looks as it would have from the factory, granted his craftsmanship is much more precise and detailed...every joint gap line now flows beautifully along the car. Here are some pictures of the metal work and the problem areas. That is one beautiful Lusso and I happen to really like the Blue. It's Blu Sera right? Also if you don't mind me asking, when do you expect the restoration to be done?
Here are a few of my blemishes. The sills are totally open to road debris, leaves, twigs, rat droppings, you name it. If the car happens to live in a moist climate, this debris stays damp and slowly eats into the thin, substandard steel which these are are made from. My car has been in Northern CA since 1969, but the five years it lived in Europe was enough to do this damage. john Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
- Jo Siffert's Lusso (S/N 5303GT) was sold via Bonhams in Gstaad '02, to Shell European Historic Challenge regular and current owner Peter Heuberger in Switzerland - Good luck with the rebuild, excellent colour/interior combo for a great car.As veterans of a 330 GT Mk2 and Daytona rebuild - (both of which are European cars and were a metalworkers dream!) its good to see the metalwork on the Lusso was in good shape!
No, s/n 5367GT went to Heuberger, 5303GT is the ex-Siffert car. 5303GT and 5367GT were both sold at the 2002 Gstaad auction and both are darkblue.
Our car 5303 is now in San Diego, CA at least it will be after the restoration is completed. Any pictures from that auction would be fantastic to see if you can manage to find some. Yes the carrera GT is ours as well. Does anyone know of other lussos in San Diego, I ran one very nice older gentleman with a darker red with tan interior (I think it was russo chiaro?) at the rodeo drive car show, i believe he was in newport. Hopefully I will be getting more pictures of the car this weekend and I will upload them if anything has changed.

Looks great!. Did they prep and paint the car with the engine and suspension in place? Was that a problem? Thanks for the photos.
the steering wheel is temporary so it wouldn't surprise me if it was a jaguar wheel. They did prep and complete the paint with a majority of the engine/suspension and other mechanics still in the car and it looks absolutely fantastic, thanks to Steve Beckman the painter and metal worker. We should have the car back in a couple of weeks fully completed and i'll post more pictures there. the color is serra blue metallic, original to the car.
