Just a note Vik, this is a good thread to post in off topic. No BS, just a question and a non response to the jabs. Keep at it, you are getting there! I think you will look back and laugh at some of the other stuff.

Had this problem with my girlfriend's dog recently. It was simply an exercise issue. I started running with her every day and she never licks herself anymore. Before, when my girlfriend was in charge and never played with her or took her outside, she would sit and lick herself for hours. Was constantly a little edgy and destroyed everything in her path.

Completely different dog now that she gets worked out regularly.

I'm no vet, but have noticed this consistently with several dogs I have had through the years as well.

Is the dog made of clay?

Ok. As mentioned before using words you obviously don't understand. Please A: Use spellcheck. B: Use a thesaurus.

Instead of going to a Vet, find a good pet nutritionist in your area.
Ideally, one who is both a traditional vet as well as a holistic vet. Most likely this is something that can be addressed nutritionally, and while traditional vets are terrific at critical care, nutrition is one area where they really don't excel. They typically send you down one of two paths: meds, or their "specially formulated" foods. You won't find anything worthwhile to feed your dog at a PetCo/PetSmart/Grocery Store. And the foods that vets recommend are typically from the Hill's/Science Diet family or the Iam's/Eukanuba lines. Over time, these foods will only exacerbate any medical issues your dog has, perpetuating the cycle of medical intervention. If it sounds like a racket, you're beginning to get the picture.

Also, look closely at any kind of recent environmental changes. Has your dog been exposed to any new allergens or forms of stress? Dogs are prone to licking a lot when they're anxious as well. There could be something airborne causing a reaction, even a different cleaning agent inside your house.

Our oldest Golden used to get raging hot spots, and then we began researching canine diets more and learned a lot. We have had her on a formulated raw diet for the past 5 years, and our second Golden, who is now 4, has eaten a raw diet since 10 weeks of age. If you are interested, I can send you some good links with more information.

My cat and my aunt's cat had the same thing. Follow the advice stated and take him back to the vet or an animal nutritionist. My cat had an infection, my aunts had a food allergy that ended up presenting itself with similar characteristics as cancer.

Very scary few weeks for our family.
