Im surprised that Massa was that much off the pace Kimi set. Surerly Kimi is a bit lighter but three tenths quicker then your teammate is a lot!

Alonso more upbeat than normal now that Lewis is way back of him. Seems he didnt care about not getting poll but just being ahead of his team mate.

That's because if his teammate beats him he has no excuse. If he beats LH but can't beat the Ferraris, then it must be the car.

I thought if you don't race with the car and fuel you qualified in you went to the back of the grid. Please expain.

    Thanks

Why does Felipe have that black stripe on his helmet? Is it because of the 200 people killed in that Brazilian plane crash recently? I didn't catch that part..... Great Qualifying!!!!

If they "change engines" it's 10 on the grid, I think. But they've got all night to put the car back together.

Did anyone else see the *left* wheel not turning with the steering wheel, after the right tire went? I thought maybe the right push-rod may have unshipped and harpooned the wheel.

I saw the legs going and wondered if he was trying to keep the engine lit. But maybe he was just expressing a little frustration.

    As long as he's okay.

And 10th isn't as bad as starting from the pits.

Great job by Kimi to make a mistake free lap under an unusual qualifying situation.

Fantastic job by Alonso. It takes a lot of courage to drive at 10/10ths after you seen your teammate crash hard thru a mechanical failure than could occur to him as well. These guys are fearless.

Someone must have lit a fire under Ralfe boy - he suddenly seems to be ina racy mood. :)

Should be interesting to see Lewis racing from mid-field now that he has to deal with lap traffic. Haven't had the opportunity to see him have much competition. :) I wonder if his podium streak will end tomorrow...

I believe if they fix that car up, they will start 10th. If they have to change the engine then they will drop another 10 spots or maybe right to the back. They may opt for a whole new car as the setup of the smashed car will be very very hard to get right without testing it. If Lewis can race and I hope he does, it will be interesting to finally see him pass cars and how he can handle it. I just hope he will be able to get into the saddle tomorrow.
I also hope Alonso does more off road racing....lol

+1, should be excellent to see how he handles slower traffic that won't be keen on letting him by.

I learned my lesson today - had qual set to record on my DVR, but of course it went over time with the crash, so I missed the last two minutes. :( Won't happen again ;).

Now's the chance to really try to shorten the gap between SFM and McL!

Great job Kimi! What a quali session, drama! FA couldn't deliver a clean lap...not too surprising, he's been talking of oversteer throughout the weekend...and Massa, well, seems he's now the one nitpicking little things why he wasn't fastest--he did in practice yesterday, and again today...glad Hami's ok...don't think it will be easy for him to get past either BMW...looking forward to the race...

i just watched the delayed quali session. stupid guys were airing some boring Asian Cup Football.

big big crash from Lewis. lucky he's ok. he'll be in the hospital for a couple of hours to be monited, as well as a CT scan, per f1-live.com

also, anyone saw Fred's screw-up? it was a bog moment, he nearly threw the car into a spin, but he got it controlled and put the car in 2nd place. he lost at least about .5 of a sec.

that shows, IMO, that Fred's Mac is fuelled light...really really light.

Everybody seems quite confident that Hamilton will race tomorrow but why then is this situation different from Kubica's crash? He wasn't even allowed to race one week after the accident because of fears that a second impact would cause more harm. Isn't Hamilton subject to the same danger?

    Best, Peter

p.s. I'm not saying that he shouldn't race but it seems the policy of the doctors is quite strict.

I just read on Pitpass.com that McLaren are confident that Hamilton will get the ok from the doctors tomorrow and will be able to race. He seems fine. But the article also said that he would start from 10th spot with the full load he started qualifying with.

I don't see the problem. Massa didn't blame his car or anyone else. He admitted that he lost concentration and momentum because of the Hamilton crash so he only blamed himself.

Interesting how L.H. (mistakenly) held on to the wheel at impact. He's lucky he didn't break his wrist(s)!

He did that in Monaco also. I remember the talking heads saying he should not have held on.
