My 599 arrived...well, almost. It's actually sitting on the dealers' floor. Rather than have it delivered, I'm driving the 300km (200 miles) to the dealer in my Stradale, leaving the Stradale there for tyres etc. and driving the 599 back through a few nice "Swiss twisties" The only trouble is that I can't go there until next Tuesday due to other commitments! It's going to be an agonising wait...only 140 hours to go! Some pics from the dealer follow. I'll post more pics and driving impressions, road and track (Mugello)...eventually! Quick-spec . I have a hunch that you will love it. Your ext. color was also one that I considered. I really like the car in that color. Good luck and enjoy.
i did that once. but just as i was driving up the lane of my Swiss Villa with Yasmine i woke up. Congrats on a marvellous car. Great looking beast. Enjoy. GT
Congratulations. I just picked up my Nero Daytona yesterday, pics here. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=160254 Great choice of color. I was very pleased with my black/yellow highlights interior, but your combo was my second choice.
This is the perfect color combo IMHO, perfect car! Since I'm also from Switzerland and on holiday next week, I can take care of your car! Beauuuuuutiful 599!
I was thinking about posting before. After looking at the pics again I have to say, " Damn, that's a great looking car." Congrats and enjoy the drive (s).
What a Beautiful car!!! Congratulations!!! I know you are going to love it. Nice color choices too... Hank
Picked the 599 up on Tuesday from the main dealers and since the weather was fine so I took the "scenic" route home... I drove a 599 last year at a track and was very, very impressed. This journey was quite different especially because this time I was driving my own car, in my own time and without a Ferrari rep. sitting next to me - this time I'm alone! Thumb the "Start Engine" inside the showroom and the glorious v12 sound fills the room...fantastic. Pull the lever back for first gear and out I go into the blazing afternoon sunshine. I let the engine idle while I say my goodbyes to the guys in the dealership and the car looks fantastic with the sunlight reflecting of the various sumptuous curves. By the way, it had a teflon wax/coating applied by the garage and the paint looks brilliant, almost wet. Out of town was busy with traffic, small villages and changes in elevation. No problem, just set the manettino to "Sport" and leave the gearbox setting at "Auto". I have time to fiddle with the (pretty poor) stereo in the stop/go traffic and made a couple of "hands-free" phone calls thanks to the Bluetooth feature. I also set the seat and steering wheel up to my liking, the traffic is thinning out and the changes in elevation increase... Time to disable the "Auto", twist the manettino to "Race" and squeeze the throttle...I say squeeze because flooring this car on twisty Swiss roads will see you flying over a cliff The way the car deploys its power through the F1 gearbox is phenomenal, it's just so flexible. Between the very, very twisty bits just hold it in 2nd and apply power, when a straight-ish bit opens out then grab third, one or two LED's light up, then hard on the carbon brakes and listen to the music of the v12 note hardening under acceleration then beautifully blipping on deceleration - it is absolutely addictive! I finally make it to the top of the pass (2500m/8000ft) and take a moment to enjoy one of the most glorious scenes...the Swiss Alps through the windscreen of a 599 (see pic)! More of the same on the descent, this time somewhat more cautiously as the road really narrows in places but there are still plenty of ear-to-ear-grinning moments! At the bottom of the pass, and heading into traffic, back to "Auto" and cruise at around 100mph home. This is one epic vehicle and I can't wait to rack up the miles. Next trip, the Ferrari circuit of Mugello in Tuscany, then on Sep. 4th, back to Fiorano to play with the 430 Scuderia. Room with a view... Image Unavailable, Please Login
