I have freinds who have had these installed and they praise them. I know no details because they are illegal. Radar detectors are passive devices so in most states are allowed. The radar scramblers are "active" and therefore not allowed under federal laws.

My freinds who had these installed them so they could not be found easily and they purposely drove cars or in one case a truck to avoid being the liekly culprit who would scramble police radar. He once told me if he was next to my Porsche with his truck and the State troopers radar got scrambled he would stop the Porsche as the likely suspect and let his Ford 150 go by.

I have no specfics because i lost interest when I was told they were illegal. The ads for these gizmos at the time where at the end of Popular science and Poplular mechanics.

My data point are dated so I do not know if laser can be scrambled

    Wish I could help more.

In both the USA and Canada, radar jammers are illegal everywhere, whereas lasar jammers are legal in all US states, except VA and DC, and several Canadian provinces. Radar detectors 'detect' or give warning, that's all. Lasar jammers jam or scatter the lasar frequency. The lasar gun, depending on the brand, will "punch through" at some point as the car approaches the lasar sight, but the jammers will provide hundreds of feet of "invisibility" before the car's speed is detected, or may even jam the lasar gun entirely. Read the 'guysoflidar.com' (guys of lidar) tests. You'll see from their summary table the effectiveness of different jammers, compared. Btw, I have lasar jammers in my car and, yes, they protected me in a lasar trap, though I don't know what type of lasar gun was being used.

The active radar jammers that actually emit radar do work, but as stated, are illegal. They also have a disadvantage, they make the cop's gun show 15, 200, 28, 86, blah blah blah just random numbers... This makes it obvious the gun is being jammed. As for a laser jammer, it just shows up blank on the screen of a laser gun, so the cop assumes his gun is not getting a reading for whatever reason. I would not run the risk of getting a radar jammer, but between a Valentine One and a laser jammer you should be all set for avoiding speeding tickets (just don't drive like a complete moron).

Keep in mind the pigs can easily hand out a ticket without radar or laser readings. If you're doing 50 in a 35 zone, and since they're "trained" to calculate speed visually, they'll just pull you over and issue a citation for 40+.
This is why I see no point in these devices. They'll still pull you over, still give tickets, and you still have to go to court as usual. Lack of a speed reading will hardly take away from their case.

and I'm working, doing my job, and my radar/lidar/whatever is jammed, and the guy is speeding, I'm gonna want to have a talk with them.

I think that even with lasers. If I've seen the thing work perfectly (and fast) about a hundred times. I know what it means when the car aproaching you 40 mph over doesn't register. Plus, now I'm pissed.

I'd take a chance on issuing a reckless driving tickit. I'd bet I've seen the judge a few times and that they will respect my testamony.

Not worth it, unless the car is doing some outragous speed. There are plenty others speeding well over the limit..If I stopped everyone doing 8-10 miles over I would never get home. On highways I usually give 25mph over before I stop them....So If your doing 75 in a 55--I probably will not stop you. Over 80--they yea...

Keep in mind that Police Officers have Ferraris too. They are even known to subscribe and be highly contributing members of internet groups, oh, lets say, like FERRARI CHAT!

I'd suggest you may want to slow down if you ever drive through Maryland, you might just run into someone that takes offense at the above words.

i was doing well over 90mph one late night somewhere in texas coming out of albany, new york. was driving all night. was about 2AM. i was using a detector but i see the blue and red lights and high beams far behind me. so i'm had --so i thought. i slow down to about 75mph and i see literally the tiny speck of lights bearing down upon my rear coming up faster than imaginable.

i was like oh well. this is going to be really bad.

but no. the cruiser kept it's speed and i then realized how fast it was going. it passed me like i had dropped an anchor, literally screaming past me and shoving my car over a little as the vortex overtook my car. it then disappeared on he horizon into tiny red tail light specks not long after it soared past me. estimated speed must have been well into 130mph to make me appear as if i was parked.

i think the cop was saying "we have you but we're not going to get you tonight. but just wait and watch your as@ because next time we will get you."

it made me realize who is really in control (hint: it wasn't me).

    LOL yes.

he could have so nailed me but was totally disinterested. that Crown Vic was hauling major as@ though. it made a sound from the wind noise that i've never heard before. like a whistling screaming sound. non-carlike. i've never seen a car going so fast on a public road in all of my life.

According to the Stalker Dual manual(a Ka band speed measuring device), it seems to have(known) trouble reading speeds when power lines and neon signs are present. I'm sure you can be creative.

If the radar unit is jammed it will display "RF" on the screen and the revenue officer will know something is up.
